Chapter 6
The first matter of the day as 1941 rolls around is to improve our infrastructure. Skåne, next to Denmark, is getting sea fortifications built and our borders are getting radar systems built. The Syndicalists are on the march everywhere now, and we don't particulary trust the Russians. In any case, we have got control over Scandinavia bar Denmark now. The time is to secure our conquests, in case the great powers look up north!
February 6th what we have feared for so long happens; Germany can no longer withstand the pressure and the whole country collapses into French control! Only small pockets of resistance is left and the government flees to the colonies in Africa.
But then: The impossible. The incredible. These small pockets of resistance become something more. The French is forced into retreat. But is it too little, too soon?
With the German Empire and France in trench warfare on the continent and afraid of a victorious France looking north after having beaten Germany, the government contemplate joining Mitteleuropa in their war. Vi begin to prepare for this, and if Germany is not beaten by autumn, we'll interfere. We can't ally with them right now, as the mod only allows for this through events, as I understand it. The join alliance tick is green, but unavailable still. This will take more time than I like. Actually a whoopng 210 days. This is frustrating, mildly put.
By the end of April Egpyt and the Ottomans sign a truce. The war in the east between Persia and the Ottomans still rages.
During the summer the German lines again collapse, and the French advance fast. It seems there is no chance we'll get that alliance with Germany up fast enough to have any chance of saving them. We'll have to hope the Syndicalists will let us be, then...
August 21st the Mongol Empire, which has threatened its weaker neighbours several times the last few years, get a big problem to handle: Both Russia and Japan declares war on them. At least this means we're probably secure from the Russian bear for a while.
Mid October the front between France and Germany again has stabilized, although with a clear advantage to the French. Many in Sweden says it's now or never. If Germany falls, we'll be next. Against involvement is the fact that although we have a strong army, we have no more available men to replace our losses, and we can't even man the many ships and planes we've built the last year. But do we have a choice? Is it not now or never? Will the Syndicalists let a kingdom in Scandinavia be, after they have slaughtered the aristocracy on the continent? With great weariness the Parliament give the government permission to offer Germany an alliance.
October 26th the alliance between Sweden and Germany is signed.
As of this moment, our diplomatic situation is as such:
Our first action is to send 34 divisions - out of 53 - to the continent. The last 19 we keep back home, to defend our freedom if it is to come to that.
It seems it was too late. By the end of the year we are in full retreat in the eastern parts of Germany. The future for monarchism in the north is bleak - the future of our people and her freedom is bleak!
New Year's Eve peace has come to the eastern flank of the Ottoman Empire. While fighting has renewed with Egypt, Persia is fully annexed. At least it goes the right way for one monarchy.
But New Year's Eve peace is also signed between the Syndicalists in the fallen USA and the semi fascists opposing them. The Syndicalists win a total victory. Now the fallen USA is divided between Syndicalism and the Pacific States of America. Thankfully the latter is the strongest, and allied to the Entente!
Og here our journey ends. Sweden's honor is restored, but it will probably fade soon, as the Syndicalists march forward. We'll never know. Because when I loaded the save to play on, all - absolutely all - events from game start in 1936 to the current year, retriggered. It made a mess. Both elections, uprisings, and more resurfaced. Civil wars restarted around the world. Everything. But such is life when you play with alphas. At least it was fun as long as it lasted, and I hope you enjoyed it as much as me!
Alt för Sverige!
