Indeed. Germany is my main concern. If they decide to back up Finland, as they might, I could be in trouble. Then again, the French is usually stronger than Germany in this mod, and one of their possible war starting points is around when I plan to strike.

We left 1938 with the Syndicalists advancing all over the world, while Sweden had become Svea Rike - led by the king. But this will change due to the bug in the mod.
In January the Syndicalists in Spain attacks their neighbours in the West, Portugal. Without help, they will never survive.
In February we start to expand Lottakåren, which means we'll have women - heavens! - in the army!
In March, the tide turns in Spain. The Portugese have got new allies; the Entente. Or rather what is left of them after the loss in the first world war. Portugal proper, which was almost completely lost, is recaptured and the Frech - that is, the exiled republic residing in Africa - has invaded the Spanish in the East from their base of power in Algeria.
In April the world reknown German author Erich Maria Remark publishes a book about an alternative Europe. A Europe where the Entente won the world war and a young war hero takes over Germany and becomes her Führer. The book is being critizised for being less than realistic.
Mid April the Lottakåren is finished, but the effect on available recruits turn out to be minimal. A mere 29k troops become available, and we're soon back on rock bottom. But our military has become quite strong, and the king orders preparations for war. We have no air force to speak of, but we have a mighty army. And our intelligence suggests the Finnish are weak.
In August the war in Spain ends with Portugal annexing the whole of Spain, while their allies in New England gains the Canary Islands and the Baleareas.
In September the time has come. Svea Rike demands her rightful lands back from the Finnish! Will the Germans support the Finnish? Or are they merely a castle of air?
Two days later a lot of things happen. First, Germany refuses to support Finland. Hooray! But Norway announces she accepts our proposition of an alliance? We can't say we ever sent such an offer. This is a bug in the mod. But allies are good, no? Except we planned to annex Norway later on!
Things get even weirder when we discover that Norway is NOT allied to us after all. This is pure betrayal, isn't it? We should teach those Norwegians a lesson, as soon as Finland is ours...!
But merely two days later something happens. Something that explains the German lack of support for Finland. The French Syndicalists declare war upon the German Empire! The Second World War, or Welt Krieg, is a fact...
And then. Fiftheenth of November 1939, while the French and Germans fight over control over Europe, Svea Rike declares war on Finland.
Our war goes well, but the Germans and their allies struggle. December 11th Flanders-Wallonia capitulates.
By the end of the year the situation is that we control much of northern Finland, while Germany slowly is pushed back. And December 30th Egypt and her allies in Arabia declare war on the Ottoman Empire.

From various AARs I have read the world of Kaiserreich appears to be falling apart right on schedule.
Indeed. But the former USA and Syndicalist Spain falling like that is somewhat different from what often happens.

Flanders-Wallonia? That's weird, why would that even be a nation. I should really play with this mod soon, the variety seems very interesting.
Yeah, there's much more potential for variety in my experience.
The lore basically is that after the war, the empire was on its knees and only survived by reforming into a loose confederation. During the game, Austria can demand to recentralize, possibly initiating a civil war.

Yeah, it was quite the turnaround! In a world where Syndicalism advances on all fronts, it was good to see this happen.
France? In most of my games, France proves to be the stronger country. Germany is hindered a lot by their starting limitations in almost all areas, that has to be removed by national focus one by one. This is not finished before right before the war happened in most cases. They are at a distinct disadvantage.
When Germany won the war, they set up a puppet regime in old Belgium. They control some of Belgium's old territory, which can be given back if the WK2 is won.

We left 1939 as the world went crazy. The French Syndicalists has gone to war against the Hegemon of Europe; Germany, and they slowly win. The Entente controls Spain, but they have yet to strike. The Middle East went up into flames two days before New Year, and in the north our brave Swedish warriors have taken control over large parts of Finland. January 3rd Persia joins the war against the Ottomans, and the sick man at the gates of Europe goes towards an uncertain future.
In February we have control over Northern Finland and slowly advance south. The king is worried though, as we are fresh out of recruits and due to our armies being so strong compared to the enemy the game doesn't allow us to raise our conscription!
Come June Finland is on her knees, and victory is in sight! During the war we've used our national focuses to improve our army's power and now the Finnish are fleeing. It's merely a question of time. As the joke goes: Have you heard of the Swede and the Fin that went to war? The Fin lost.
South in Europe the Germans struggle, while the Portugese have freed Spain, under their tutelage. The Spanish's foreign policy is under Portugal's control.
In the Middle East, the Ottomans are actually doing well. Egypt can't get any lands from them, Arabia is under Turkish control and Persia is falling back.
June 30th the Finnish finally capitulates, and Svea Rike annexes the whole country in what is later known as the Treaty of Turku. On the continent the French is gaining so much power that our king is seriously worried. Will they stop when Germany is beaten?
We immidiately send our troops to the Norwegian border. You never can be too....careful. We also appoint a new man to the Military High Command. Carl August Ehrensvärd will make our tanks strong.
September 2nd a political earthquake happens. We don't do elections anymore in Svea Rike, but a bug in the mod gives us both an election and not an election, and we are thus again a democracy.
We are again the Kingdom of Sweden.
Second of November the invasion of Norway commences. November 7th Japan declares war on Germany.
In America the Civil War between the Syndicalists and the semi-fascists have stagnated. The Pacific States of America could easily have ended it all, especially as they are allied with the Entente. But it seems like they have more interest in letting the warring states continue their trench war.
December 9th Norway capitulates and in the Treaty of Bergen Sweden annexes the whole country. A wonderful end of the year for Swedish honor!
At the end of the year, we have to decide what to do with Norway. It's suggested to create a union between our countries, called Scandinavia - led by us of course, but the mod still haven't finished this country. So we would have lost all our bonuses as Sweden. As such we decide to continue the occupation indefinitely.
And with that, 1940 is over.

I'm worried about Germany. I have the option to join them through national focuses, but it'll take time. Do I have it? And do I have enough fleet power to control the straits when I do the necessary naval invasion into Denmark?I believe this is a feature of the mod, but I haven't played vanilla more than once.
