So I promised some friends I'd translate my small AAR which I'm writing on Spillhistorie.no, a Norwegian gaming site, to English. This is a picture heavy and text light story, not a big one like the one I wrote a year ago in CK2, but it is what it is.
For a background on the Kaiserreich mod, I wrote an introduction (in Norwegian) on Spillhistorie.no a while back. The original is here, and google kindly translate is thus. But I bet most people here know the drill already.
As for my AAR/game. I play on the third alpha version, 0.3.4, which ironically is named "Eternal Peace".
I play as Sweden in an alternate 1936, and the country is led by the Conservatives.
Each chapter is one year ingame, and then we'll see how long I survive or other events stops the AAR. Since this is an alpha, things can happen that wrecks the save.
In the coming election you can let the people elect a left wing government, as they wish, or you can manipulate the election and see the syndicalists(commies in this world) try a coup or let for example the King lead the country. And we want to regain Sweden's honour, so naturally the King needs to lead! Right?
So here's some of the choices you can make in the national focuses as soon as the election of 1936 happens. We'll go for The Old Way and protectionism, and then get the King to lead.
But if the Empire is to become a reality, we have to prepare. We must industrialize! We therefore go for the national focus Industrialize The Towns, which leads to Nationalize The Railroads to the right in the picture above. We also starts to research better industrial tech. We need to build up our industry, and start by building civilian and later military factories.
We start by ordering the building of some infantry units with artillery support, powerful units which together with the planned (for later) tank units shall roll over our future target; Finland. They might appeal to Germany for help, but my hope is that the coming economic crisis together with the threat from the French syndicalists will make them think twice about war in the North. To build said units though, we need military stuff, and our factories are few, so we have to take it step by step:
Last thing we do before we start is to trade some oil from the Netherlands. Then 7 of our units are set to garrison, and the rest is sent to the Finnish border for......protection.
In one and a half week, Russia is in trouble, as their leader, Kerensky, is murdered. Meanwhile Sweden prepares for the election.
We also get a rapport on the military situation in Sweden:
We also get troublesome news from Norway:
In february the economy collapses in Germany, and soon the world follows. In march we start to nationalize the railroads, which will give us better infrastructure in a couple of months. In april some strikers make trouble. We can't have that, and send in the military!
In may the nationalizing of the railroads are done, and we starts the focus to build more miilitary factories. Next step them is to industralize the countryside, before we add another research slot.
During the summer several techs have completed, and we shift focus to military matters. An early tank, better weapons and better artillery:
In september the election is held, and the Conservatives manipulate the results and keep the power:
Luckily the people understands and in the end of september things are calm again:
In october the economy finally has recovered from the stock market crash. The future is bright for Sweden!
The year is ended with the finish of the science slot adding national focus, and now it's the time for restructuring the government of Sweden! 1937 will be the year we discover that the future lies in the past.
