I thought I'd start this thread just to prevent the membership thread getting cluttered with details.

Here is my summary post from the other thread:

Well, it was worth putting together. I had a great time. We only had one no show, so the game got going. We played for about 6 hours, after the usual set up waiting time, and got through to January 1938, so we are pretty much set up for war. We were hosted by Amaterasu, which went off pretty much without a hitch, except for one network disconnect, and one CTD (me ) .

Nicophorus is putting the boots to the Nationalist China AI as Japan, and everyone else is waiting for the impending storm in Europe as Germany prepares its formidable arsenal.

This question hangs in the air: What will the outcome of the Molotov Ribbentrop negotiations, No pact, limited pact, full pact? Will Germany decide to strike hard and fast in 1940 against a completely unprepared Russia or wait to consolidate the west and attack in 1941?

That question should be answered next week.

Thanks everyone for playing.

Issues we are discussing concern Hiensen's rules regarding coupe's, which have changed recently to prohibit coupe's against AI nations. So far K2, I and Hanibal Barca and I agree that this rules should be abandoned, except in the case of Coupes against the USA.

I have no problem playing longer than the specified time. Nicophorus asked about that.

Also I kicked up my Modem UL speed to 800 kb/sec, so I should also be capable of hosting as well, if we need and alternate.

Anyone heard from St. Anger? I spoke to Nicophorus last night during our Thursday MEM Mod game, and he said he will be there.

Great gaming guys!! Great fun! Long marathon yesterday we had too!!
I would love to play during the week. We need to start another game for those who can play. Remember some of our brothers are in Europe and so forth. So I would be up for a game on Mondays after 7:30EST and I can play on Tuesdays as well. Perhaps we should start another thread for this idea..Hook it up Nicophorus would you please?? Thanks!

I would love to have more sesssions, but at this time I have to do other things, as well. So I am trying to limit my game time. As it is I am in those Mem Mod games on Wednesday and Thursday. Also I just signed up for a CET game of Armageddon, on Wednesday afternoon with Hiensen, so that's plenty much HOI for me.

So, I would like to stick to Saturday for this game I think, and it seems to be working out.

BTW: Anyone hear from Amaterasu?

I think "d" is setting up an Aramgeddon game for Mondays starting at 19:30 CET and that other new group is trying to start something, so there should be enough players around to get something going.

This was a good long session.

Unfortunately Amaterasu was unable to show for sime reason but Mefist subbed Italy, and I hosted, which seemed to go reasonably well. I sent Amat an E-mail to see if he intends to join us again on Saturday.

We played From January 1938 through to June 1940.

Germany proposed the full Molotov Ribbentrop pact and the USSR accepted. Poland fell.

France fell speedily to the German Juggernaught in the winter of 1940, while Yugoslavia and Greece fell to an abitious Mussolini under Mefist's expert guidance. On the other hand it appears the Italians have given up any interest in North Africa or its other African colonies and the Brits are consolidating the south shore of the mediteranian from Cairo to Tripoli.

A minor suprise was Japan's DOW of war on peaceful Tibet, after vanquishing Chiang Kai Shek and the Mao's communists. This resulted in the suprise counter attack on Tibet by the French dictatorship, and confusion in diplomaitc circles when Tibet sought German protection within the Axis against the French and British and Japanese Imperial designs, which resulted in Japan and the Axis being at war. High level diplomacy resolved the dispute and between the Japanese Empire, and National Socialist Germany and peace was decalred, while Japan and the Allies devided up Tibet, with most of the spoils going to Japan.

Meanwhile in the Baltics, Joseph Stalin forced Finland to cede much of its border territory to the USSR during the 1940 Winter War and gobbled up Estonia and Latvia as well. In response to Japan's agressive behaviour in Central Asia, and Japan's absorbtion of Tibet, and its subsequent declaration of war against Afghanistan, the USSR deposed the Shah of Iran and liberated the people of Persia from the monarchist tyrrany, and brought the Persian people into the socialist international brotherhood.

At the end of this long session, the Axis includes: Germany, Italy, Bulgaria, Rumania, Hungary, Vichy France and Argentina, and seems unstoppable. Britain waits to see what Germany's next move will be. Japan stands alone as a much larger empire than it was in 1937 when it began its campaign in China.

Most importantly, question remains: will the Axis encroachment into the US sphere of influence in South America tirgger and early US entry into the war on the Allied side?
