Currently I have several one former clans as vassals. I did not yet go back to main menu and reload the game which usually fixes bugs like the MR stealing your heir upon formation and stuff like that.

Khazaria was rather prolific this game and I now have a vassal Khan who is also King of Pomerania, as well as a tribal King of Sweden (who got subjugated by Khazaria decades ago.)

I'll load up the game and see if the Khans are still there, and if there's anyway I can acquire their titular clan titles (can't revoke that title.)

Feudal obligations determine how much money and levies nomads provide.
If you were tribal or nomadic you could call them as allies to your wars.
they stay after reload.
Maybe if one of the clan leader families die out you could inherit it probably and keep teh nomadic holding, but i usualy get nomadic holdings by pushing claims on clan (kingdom) titles
