Steam and non-Steam are not two different platforms, they are not two different patch/DLC models and they don't require two different sets of tech support. Steam-version of a game is identical to a non-Steam version. I do not understand why Pdox is turning their back to those 5% of customers - especially as I'm one of them. Will be very sad to miss EU4. Hopefully HoI4 (when it comes) will not be Steam-exclusive.Because you then go back to having two different platforms, two different patch / DLC models, two different sets of tech support, etc, etc.
It's just not worth the hassle. As I say, if 95% of Paradox customers are using Steam, from their PoV it makes sense to streamline everything over to that platform.
