I'm well aware of the lore but props for calling your assumption that I'm unfamiliar with said lore as perspective. Even in 3025 (especially in 3025) 5 regiments of unknown heavily experienced regiments (with pristine gear) meant there was another player in the game.

The overall assumption by the Inner Sphere was that Wolf's Dragoons were just a Periphery bandit kingdom or group that stumbled upon an SLDF cache and used its contents to equip themselves. This idea was also reinforced by the Dragoons' frequent resupply runs into the middle of nowhere in the Periphery.

Also, the general consensus about the SLDF that left during the Exodus was that they would return one day to save the Inner Sphere if needed, not invade it since Kerensky wanted exactly to avoid the SLDF being involved into the Succession Wars. So associating the Dragoons with the SLDF made no sense for the Inner Spheroids since the SLDF had no reason to return.

And, when the Clans invaded there was at least one Inner Sphere leader (Romano Liao) who claimed that the SLDF would return to defend them from the Clans.

The Fidelis symbol wasn’t meant to be Comstar. But the Fidelis and the shaded Clan Smoke Jaguar symbol within the Fidelis symbol are indeed Factions I have previously championed - every good story needs a more-than-serviceable antagonist, even better if the antagonist manages a moment of redemption. : )

Not if you were just going to replace it with your own form of oppression and tyranny.

The Clans, or most of them, weren't these great saviours of humanity. They were just as bad as the Houses themselves.
