So given that in order to play a Subversive Cult you need to be Spiritualist. And being Spiritualist means you have access to the Shroud.

Would it then not seem unreasonable that in addition to the espionage content coming later you'll be able to effectively make a Doomsday Cult with the sole intent of getting access to the Shroud and causing The End Of Cycle

As such your type of Espionage events would revolve around growing your power so you control the whole galaxy when you hit the doomsday button (cause just killing most of the people and leaving the rest up to chance seems a bad idea) and in turn the rest of the galaxy trying to stop you both in military and in covert actions as well

Are your Branch Offices also Shroud-Marked? If so this does sound like a fun way to kill everyone.
If it is then that'll probably get patched quickly. To easy to hit the I win button when branch offices can't be removed for at least a year now (least I think thats how it works) so you just wait 49 years then spam them
