Just purchased on Steam.... game won't start

Forgive me if I'm not posting this in the right place.

Just bought it at Steam. It gets to the map initializing screen and just hangs. I hit the space bar and get an error message that the game couldn't start....

Any suggestions? Windows 10 on a Surface Pro 4...

Try deleting the cache folder in Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria 2/map if it exists.

For future reference, when you register your game on the forums here, you'll be able to see the Tech Support subforum (among others), which is a better place.

Do you have it on Steam?

If so then go to the map cache as specified above and delete the "time" file. Then go offline mode otherwise the game will regenerate that file and cause it to crash again.
