For myself I lost interest from the moment they think they are doing wonders out there and at the same time fail to recognize a big deficit just because thay felt insulted by, like I said, a figure of speech.
Tell me one thing: How can one research history of a country, suggest events, modify a lot, and still maintain basic errors?
I compare this with, for example a complete new "History of England" with a caracter named Jaime Cuk (instead of James Cook) and another called Francesco Drago (instead of Francis Drake). If you are going to buy the book and notice this errors, would you buy it?
Would you feel happy if after you point the errors, the editors say to you that there are a lot more customers, so they don't need you?

I've only made a few requests/observations regarding the expanded Byzantium files, but they were accepted almost too readily. I'm still worried that I might have messed up on a couple of my suggestions (I don't know if anyone double-checked them), and that the changes won't make the events work properly. Whoever was running the mod back then probably isn't like the people working on the Byzantium Event Annex. Maybe we could even tack on the new Portuguese files as a rider on the next update.
I posted there a complete new leaders.por file in the portuguese or iberian (can't remember exactly) threat. It was 2 or 3 months ago. Just to proof I can do my homework. What they did with it I don't know and I don't care. Never went there again.Thistletooth said:
Franckly I don't care anymore about it. AGCEEP for me is like a bad book, heard about it, read some critics, evaluated it briefly, didn't like what I saw, forget about it.

The new events are totally worth it, I think. For example, Portugal's vanilla event file is only 18KB. In AGCEEP its 95KB. That's a lot more KB worth of Portuguese kickassitude! And if you haven't played AGCEEP Byzantium...duuuuuuuuude....

But still... I have a lot of reserves about a mod pretending to be more historally accurate, that changes and adds lots of historical events and doesn't care about the most basic stuff: historical names!

I concur with RichardTheFirst. I too proposed a couple of suggestions, and argued about them. But no way, they were refused by a few people of the HC, without even countering my points. That's that arrogance and haugtiness that drove me away from AGCEEP, some people are just too sure they "know the truth".
I'd go with jayron 32 and Vulture.
There are no essential mods. AGCEEP is popular, but it is not essential. Also, as a new player you really should get a look at vanilla (basic) play first. Then you will be in a much stronger position to decide if a given mod helps your game or hurts it.
Definitely get the 1.09 patch. (I'd actually recommend 1.08, but I'm okay with the latest patch.)
Pick one of the European powerhouses for your first game. The above suggestions are good ones. I like Austria: You start out kind of small in 1419, so you need to be careful...but by 1540 you're a world power because several events give you entire countries.
Once you're comfortable with the way the game runs, then come back and look through the mods. Again, the above suggestions (IES, AGCEEP, EP) are great ones and there are many more besides.

I have to agree. Get the feel of vanilla 1.09 first. Then you can go uber mod if you like. Another great mod is the Mongolian Empire Scenario. Fun mod as well. I haven't checked into it lately, the last patch I had was still a little buggy. Probably fixed by now though. I haven't checked in about a year.
