They are great tools to spread your bloodline or collect bloodlines since they know their father they will get their bloodline(unless bastards cant inherit) and since they dont got any claim over throne their fathers dont care about mart. marriage too!
this is especially great when bloodline you desire is held by gavelkind goverment since they will be allways in line for inheritance.
also its good to spread your bloodline too if you want to share love with people :p (and lets be honest... spreading your philosopher bloodline and incrasing tech spread in your empire is pretty sweet too)
I myself managed to unite ashina+atilla bloodline right now... sadly started as ashina but still pretty significant since when I settled I got massive amount of horse archers (I know how to use them and setting my army for them)
before this they were ok...
now they are wonderful!

...
by the way I know I just said I know how to set army considering horse archers but would you like to write ones you know too? I just found out someting new :D

Their AI dads don't care about matri marriage because they are bastards and not part of the line of succession.

They DO get claims on their parent's titles though.
yea but those are weak claims and needed to be pressed by war since they are not legimized.
they were good candicates to marry before...
now they are ... good candicates to marry...
...
ok that didnt fit well :D
what I am saying is they have another purpose you can follow if you want now :D

Took me a few hundred years of distant inbreeding, but the childeren of my current heir will get the bloodlines of Karling, Arpad, Rurikid, Ragnar, Fairhair, Atilla, Ashina and a legendary bloodline sigurdr snake in the eye. Hopefully giving me the 5 bloodlines achievement.
Bless the bastards and claimants who came to my court to be milked for blood and claims.
