For me it takes 42,39 secs to pass a month !!!
That is horrendously slow!
That's pretty slow. My machine is almost 5 years old now and I'm running on Linux, and IIRC it's still quite a bit under 30 seconds for me. I'll have to time it again, but I think on speed 5 one minute is closer to 1 year than 1 month...maybe more like 3-4 months but still.
Is there a cap on 5 speed, or does it literally go as fast as a machine can handle?
I'm not too far from that right now. What's the fastest year-times people are clocking on speed 5?
I was told Speed 5 is as fast as the PC can handle.
I just benchmarked one year at
39.8 seconds. Which works out to 3.32 seconds / month.
That was GBR, year 1600, and I zoomed all the way out until units weren't moving around so it wouldn't have to update the UI. I have lots of notifications set to popup (none to pause) and I just ignored those as they piled up.
That's on an Quad Core (with HyperThreading) i7-920 running at 2.9ghz (slight overclock, I think base speed is 2.8), Windows 7 SP1, 12GB RAM (not that most of that is needed.), SSD for C: (though that's also unlikely to affect the speed, besides saving) The PC was top of the range in 2010, much less so now obviously.
I run the game at 1920x1080 resolution in Fullscreen Windowed mode, with three monitors so I have a couple of other apps also in the foreground - eg. Chrome with 15 tabs - but no other apps using much CPU at the time, I believe.
