Yes at first EU4 was nothing like Eu3 but after several patches it has become more similar but were still not there yet. Just make it like EU3 already and it will be better.

I freed Leon and we were allies against Spain but then for NO REASON they set me to hostile and of course they break our alliance

wvd087.png

and as always the result is

u3ddt.png

Why even bother making long term plans when the AI is blatantly acting against its own self interests? This game has gotten a lot better since launch but its still not EU3 standard and the EU3 standard is the gold standard in my opinion. EU4 feels much more scripted and if I dare to say it has started to annoy me in the same way games made by the Creative assembly annoys me.

Just got one - AI suggested alliance, I am Byzantium, it is Dulkadir. We both have eaten few provinces from Ottomans, it is win-win position for us. I accepted the alliance and NEXT MONTH the AI breaks it. Without any visible reasons, nothing happened in the period. It still has Ottomans as their enemies, nothing changed.

Well. I suppose I just want "I win" button over here. Sarcasm.

Lol hilarious and you don´t even have AE on them :)

On the other hand, unlike Creative Assembly, Paradox usually fixes that kind of crap.

Made Crimea a protectorate 10 mins ago while they were in another war with the golden horde. After they accepted protectorate status, I was dragged in the war and my allies refused a call to arms I didnt make...I lost 5 alliances like that. Brilliant...

Sounds like you're playing an older patch, Steppe Hordes can no longer be made into protectorates. Also what you're talking about was a unintentional oversight when protectorates were first made. Latest patch fixes both problems you just mentioned (being dragged into a war no long forces an automatic CtA unless your allies are willing to join meaning no broken alliances).

Remember that the AI often changes their attitude when a new leader comes into power (Which is pretty historical). In my commonwealth game Austria was by best friend for like 250 years, but every time they had a regency council (which for some reason was always militant personality) they would rival/break alliance. The moment the heir comes of age (administrator or diplomat most of the time) they would unrival me and re-ally me (changing from rival to friendly/cordial).

Theres no point in trying to make sense of a non-sense AI my friend.

Yeh I am in 1.4 right now, I cant update the game due to lack of an appropriate internet connection. I am posting through my phone. Glad to know that it got fixed. Thanks for the headsup,

And here I was happy that my Colonial Nation, French Canada, dragged me into a war with Great Britain (I'm France) while their fleet was lost against Portugal/Spain (might just as well be one country) and was able to drive them out of Canada except 2-3 provinces.

But I must say that I am enjoying it less than the late EU3........we'll see after WoN DLC/Patch.

I had that same problem and ctrl-alt-del the game in disgust. Then I loaded up the (ironman) save after the patch and did the same thing and didn't lose any alliances.
