Ok, if your uncle dies, making you oldest dynasty member, then you should be the boys hier and he should get smothered by his maid and all will be well. Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

That's exactly the case when my uncle dies. Though I have no interest in smothering those children with pillows; my house rule is to populate every duchies with my dynasty, which is why this issue comes up in the first place. The idea is that matrilinearly marrying my dynastic females prevents inheritance blobbing.

His male Dynastic line is dead, and there a no male descendants of his father who can inherit. Thus the Title is give to the eldest member of his dynasty, through gavelkind succession(???).

It's Primo. I made sure I destroyed & recreate every gavelkind duchies if I usurp them. But maybe I actually missed some of them?

There is no one left under primogeniture succession, because his fathers line is dead. It the uses another succession to find the next valid, in this case it uses dynasty and uses either gavelkind or seniority succession.

Only when all other options are extinguished.

There are still dynasty heirs of the current ruler, so these are still elligable
