Very, very true. Auto-save every year to avoid any problems.

You can get the CTD that corrupts autosave, that one is a stinker, especially if you are in a drawn-out war :(

Still, annual autosaves are the best, even if I currently find myself saving every december too, just in case..

 I only have 0.4 GB of save files from my WC-game, up to aug 1662 as of now.

Usually I only have one or two saves running for a game, and maybe five to eight other saves (friends saves, or other games that maybe will be continued) but I have saved all Lorraine files for eventual screenies.

It wasn't until BB-wars began in 1614 that saves became annual (or several per year), though.

I find I have to move them instead, for same reason I used to delete them, because I find it a hassle to scroll down to the correct save in the tiny loadwindow when starting game.

Yes, you are correct! When I just got EUII, I didn't have auto-save on. And, after I played 40 years+ in one of my games, the game did that thing where it appears on your desktop and all of what I did was lost. The worst part about it was that I was playing a Nippon game and was just to accept a nice peace offer from the Manchu's, whom I had defeated in war and captured nearly every province. Now China had DoW me, so I wanted peace with Manchu, and I got all of Manchu's coastal provinces and all of their provinces bordering China. Now, I could easily get to China, and Manchu was surrounded (Good for diplo-annex). But, the game left like that, and I lost my game...... :( Now, I always have auto-save on! :D

I only have one savegame per GC (plus the two autosaves). Currently my savegame is named Genoa_mkjGC.eug. Saves me both space and scrolling time :)

But autosave is a lifesaver. It's your only protection against those evil CTD's. So here's a message to all of you newcomers out there: Never ever leave 1 jan 1419 without autosave on.

Yes.. The provinces that were adjacent to China were on the border of China's capital province too. And we all know how easy it is to get China's nice maps that way (As long as you have large enough armies, which I did)..... :(

Oh well... I just started a new game the next day and had similar effects in the beginning, and that is the game my AAR is based off of. :D

Those are manual saves. There are only 2 auto-save slots, and each of them is overwritten every other time you auto-save. Which you should do yearly, since there's no downside to it.

I think he was replying to me, when I said I was currently saving manually one to four times per year, since BB-wars started.;)

(I get annoying CtDs without warning :()
