Junior Partner in a Personal Union becoming a Curia Controler.

I just had this happen in my game, Hungary junior partner in a personal union under me (Poland) becomes Curia Controler.

How does it work? I'm not saying it is wrong i'm just curious if you think that makes sense that a country with foreign king on the throne can become Curia Controler and senior party don't get any benefits from it?

Maybe the senior party should become one in this case?

Or get some sort of modifier for having a subject as Curia Controler?

I'm just thinking out loud here... your guys opinion?

Hmm how I understood the curia Controller, was that the church of the country has managed to gain enough influence in the college of cardinals to influence Church policy. As the countries church is somewhat detached from the ruling house (obviously this a bit faulty since you van influence the curia directly) even the church a junior partner could exert enough influence to become curia controller.

Now that I think about it there should probably be some effect for the senior partner, as the game certainly establishes connections (allowing you to increase your influence directly).



Maybe something like 50% of the normal benefits?

It's not exactly true that you don't get any benefit from it, they would reliably call a crusade against your heathen opponents if you go to war and the date still allows it.

I don't know if the -10% AE impact will be applied if you conquer provinces for them (maybe someone does), but if it'll be that is another indirect, even if situational buff you'd get out of them being the controller.

As for how much sense it makes or if should it be changed, I think it's fine as is. Being curia controler represents that the pope was elected from the ranks of a country's clergy, and just because that country happens to be your junior partner doesn't automatically mean that the new pope would be especially loyal to your cause.

If anything, a patriotic pope could even use his and the Church's influence to undermine the whole PU situation and gain independence for his 'home' (this is ofc just a hypothetical, the mechanic doesn't represent anything of the kind, I'm just spitballing a sort of headcanon why a pope from a PU partner wouldn't necessarily be working for your benefit if a similar situation would have arisen IRL, which to my knowledge, didn't).
