Im making this post as I did not want to derail the convo in that thread.

I want to see if anyone had any success using spys to achieve research bonuses for tanks? on top of juggling research?

i have had great success using the 200% research modifier as well as the years ahead research bonuses given by spys, for the industry tab of research, but i have never really been able to make this work with any other part of the research tree. At least efficiently enough to make it worth it.

if there is someway to get a few of these massive research bonuses for the armor you need, i think it could potentially set you up to get modern tanks early.

Thus, before i go and commit a bunch of time to see if this is even plausible, i wanted to see if anyone had any success with this?

The exploit that nets you an ahead of time bonus and a research bonus is really only good for industry techs because it's confined to 2 research areas(elect and industrial). It's a terrible exploit that ruins the game, esp in MP. Getting a huge boost for stealing technology that is behind yours is ridiculous and should be patched.

Stealing army tech is spread across Inf Equip, Art Equip, Armor equip, and Suprt Eq so the chances of getting an armor bonus is lower. It's not really feasible, and you have to be equal to or ahead of every tech that the nation you are stealing from has, across those branches or you will end up with Arty2 or AntiTank1.

No, it's not possible. Sprinting through the industry tree via stealing blueprints requires that the target have some tech you don't have and can't get. But equipment can always be stolen, so nothing in the tank folder can give the +300% bonus. Whatever they have that you don't, you will simply steal, and can't be used for boosting tech that neither of you have.
