Bruce, ARE there Chinese Wlaks? I don't remember there being such, but then the FC hasn't been to China, so I suppose it is possible.
There was no Wlaks in China during that period. That was why Chen Hui expressed surprise when he first heard the term when joining the Free Company.
However, the Wlak did make an appearence in China in the 1680s according to records
According to Chinese Imperial records, a pair of breeding Wlaks was presented to Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty by the Russians as a gesture of a peace at the signing of the Treaty of Nerchinsk in 1689.
However, a few years later, the Wlaks escaped from their compounds and they disappeared into the forests of Sichuan.
Everyone believed the Wlaks will perish in the forests of Sichuan, seeing as they were not natives to this part of the world. But to everyone's surprise, the Wlaks proved surprisingly adaptable and they survived by devouring on bamboo shoots.
Within a few short decades, the Wlaks had increased to a few hundred and came into contact with another native of the Sichuan forests, the Giant Panda. For some unknown reason, the Panda could not tolerate the odours emited from the Wlak and this led to many bloody clashes between the two mighty beasts, which was mostly won by the Wlaks.
By the mid 1700s, the matter was brought to the attention of the Imperial Court. Worried that the Wlak might eventually wipe out the Panda, widely regarded as a symbol of the Sichuan region, the Imperial Court ordered the extermination of the Wlaks.
Teams of hunters were sent to Sichuan to hunt down the Wlaks and within a few short years, the Wlaks had been hunted out of existance in China.
