Thanks. Didn't know PU's don't count.

PU Lithuania > RM Bohemia > Ally Austria > Sell Provinces to Lithuania > Join HRE > DoW TO > Claim throne Bohemia > DoW Bohemia > End war TO (take Danzig) > PU Bohemia > Move capital to Danzig > Culture Shift > WIN

In my last try I couldn't DoW Bohemia while Austria was fighting on my side against TO (wasn't in HRE then)...
Can I DoW when I'm already in the HRE?
Can I join HRE while at war? Being at war together with Austria would raise my relations.

I'm not sure about moving my capital and doing a culture shift, but I already lost all my Polish provinces and having a Germanic culture will improve my relations with HRE members. With the change to elector vassals (-0.1 IA when an elector is a vassal) you have to go the diplomatic way.

I'd like to play a Poland game to get all the possible achievements:
Winged Hussars
One King to Rule
Poland Can Into Space
Vasa or Wettin?

Does doing any of this nullify an of these achievements? Can you westernize and still get 'into space'?

[...] can you westernize and still get 'into space'?

I don't know, but there's genuinely no need to westernise as Poland/the Commonwealth anyway. The Eastern tech group has a small tech penalty anyway (+20%), and there are idea groups that reduce tech cost, as well as the -10% to all tech costs given by the Western Arms Trade (have +150 relations or more with a Western tech nation). If you take Aristocratic, which you should take as Poland anyway and you'll probably be wanting to for the Winged Hussars achievement, then in combination with the Western Arms Trade modifier you'll have completely eliminated the +20% tech cost in military tech. If you were so inclined, you could also do so by taking the Administrative and Diplomacy idea groups; completing the three idea groups mentioned and getting the Western Arms Trade modifier would leave you with Western-tech technology costs across the board.

I typed that question too fast without thinking what I was asking. That's not the question I meant to ask. :eek:o

What I meant to ask was can you form another country and still get 'into space'? IE: Germany, Prussia, Russia, or even the Commonwealth as technically your tag isn't 'Poland' any more.

I got 32/32/32 as Ragusa, non Westernized. Ragusa is also Eastern tech and it's much smaller/poorer than Poland.
You can get all of those achievements without Westernizing.

Winged Hussars: get Aristocracy + Quality.
One King to Rule: not sure about this.
Poland Can Into Space: just make sure you have enough spare points for tech starting in 1810.
Vasa or Wettin: I think this achievement is for other countries getting their candidate elected in Poland, not for Poland itself :)

One King To Rule: When you'll get event which will spawn many noble rebels you jus thave to defeat all and wait some time, then you'll have choice to become IIRC noble republic or absolute monarchy. Just choose absolute monarchy.
Westernising is bad as it puts you behind your neighbours in tech and it's not worth it in Eastern group. You can take innovative or any other tech cost lowering idea group (becoming protestant is helpful too).

I just tested it, you cant DoW Bohemia while in war together with austria against TO(even when you join HRE).
Also Austria seems to join Bohemia side even if you are part of HRE and allied to them.
Anyone found a way to quickly PU Bohemia at start and join HRE at the same time?

I don't know about Germany, Prussia or Russia, but I'm pretty certain that all of Poland's achievements are doable if you form the Commonwealth, as long as you started as Poland.

As far as I can tell from the eventlist in the eu4wiki you don't miss much, when you don't get Sejm events. They are all bad or won't trigger anyway (they need 3 tech difference to neighbor). When you are not polish you won't get the event chain that triggers the event for changing to absolute monarchy. Can you change government form when you are an elective monarchy? I can't check at the moment...

EDIT: The event where you get -1 Diplomat and +50% Inflation and Warexhaustion reduction cost requires polish as primary culture. So switching to Prussian should prevent that.

Wait.

You can join the HRE AND become Russia? How do you do that exactly, I'm curious :)
I playtested this yesterday.

It indeed seems possible to become an "elective HRE Russia".

The steps are the following :
1. Be sure you have an artist advisor available, otherwise restart. Hire him on day 1.
2. Sell your Orthodox provinces to Lithuania, which will increase your religious unity and decrease the stability cost
3. Form union with Lithuania
4. No CB war on Muscovy. Wait for them to be at war with Novgorod.
5. Take Rzhev and Kaluga. Core them.
6. Move capital to Rzhev or Kaluga. Sell all your provinces except Krakow to Lithuania.
7. Culture shift to Russian.
8. Move back capital to Krakow and add it to the HRE.
9. Integrate Mazovia and start your conquest of Muscovy / Teutonic Order
10. At admin tech 10, form the Commonwealth with Lithuania.
11. Whenever you have the necessary provinces, form Russia.

That's it. You now have an elective HRE Russia. Feel free to become Holy Roman Emperor and blob like crazy with the might of all Germany and Eastern Europe combined.
