There is a good chance you can, because you choose the starting date of your campaign. You just need to start in 31 BC.


There seem to be a lot of characters in the game, that's very nice. I hope that there will be lots of character development for women also.

I wonder if you get to choose sides when a rebellion starts, or if it's just a "breakout nation".
I hope it's the former, because nothing appeals more to me than to create an empire only to lead a revolt against it

From what I saw in the Video Republics will be very interesting. You are elected for a 2 year term - if you lose you are not the leader but a member of a very powerful family - at that point you probably could lead a rebellion. This game seems to be family orientated, so your family should be able to gain leadership of any faction, lose it, and then regain it.. I think. I played EU II a little. I will be buying and playing this because of the challenge and because I want to unite the Celts. Thinking of playing the Lusitani and uniting the Iberian peninsula against the Carthaginians and allying with Rome. I love to change History.

I think you´ve misunderstood something. Rome is not as dynasty-oriented as CK, nor is it as nation focused as EU. Instead, its a blend. You will be in command of the nation and its ruler. But if the ruler change, then you will not suddenly stop commanding the nation. Instead you will retain control over the nation and gain control over a new family while giving up control of the old family. Which certainly can bring some intresting moments to the game.

Hmmmm as I thought nobody can make sense on why EU:R demand salt to create certain types of troops.....
