If i have a jingoist party and i mobilize my reserves, does that mean the farmers and laborers converted into soldiers will not demobilize afterwards? I'm noticing a growing amount of manpower after each war and while i know that jingoist parties don't allow you to demobilize soldier pops, i thought reserves were the exception. Other wise it means my working population will decrease drastically after each war.

Right now as the UK i have a large isolated chunk of central europe where south germany used to be (after the franco-prussian war) i've mobilized since in a war with france (caused by my ally italy declaring war with frances puppet- the papel states) and most the reserves came from my german lands. After the war and demobilizing i can somehow produce a max of 50 something south german units.

IIRC, your pops are converted into soldiers when you mobilize. I have memories of having to decommission soldier pops after demobilization. Horrible, horrible memories ...

When you demobilize some soldier POPs will convert back to farmers/labourers. Not sure if it's 100% of the ones that were promoted during mobilization or if the number is less, I have never tested it.

According to the wiki:

Most importantly, all POPs that have been mobilized do not return to their original jobs or development levels. In fact, Clerks and Craftsmen, when demobilized, reappear as Farmers and Laborers. This feature can really tank an economy.

Although I have been wondering this too as I have not promoted a single soldier pop in my current game but soldier pop count keeps going up (can't possibly all be from auto splitting) and I have mobilized a few times.

yeah i was aware that it converted factory pops if there were no primary good pops left, but i haven't had that problem due to my large amount of non-nationals. It seems likley that some, but not all are changed back. With jingoism i cannot convert soilders or reduce mobilization

I hate Jingoism. Love what its about, hate how it's portrayed. I prefer Pro-Military parties. Simply becuase it gets expensive maintaining all those excess soldier pops when you conquer places. Prussia doing an early unification of Germany is a nightmare. You'll easily wind up with the capacity to draft well over 100 divisions between North and South German cultures based on their mobilisation and your inability to demobilise (assuming you still have the starting Conservative party)

I can confirm pops demobilize under jingoism. When starting the game as Prussia under workforce, soldier pops make up 4.1% of the population, when mobilized it goes up to 8.7% and when demobilized it goes back down to 4.1%.

After the war and demobilizing i can somehow produce a max of 50 something south german units.

Is this not something to do with total manpower levels. There is a loophole that allows you in a one off to produce as many divisions of a ethnic group as you have available manpower regardless of whether or not you actually have that many soldiers available in their pops. It runs something along the lines of the game only checks that you have available soldiers at the start of the recruitment process in each ethnic group, once you have got passed that teh number of divisions you can create is not limited by the number of pops. This for example allows you to create a division from a pop that is smaller than 10000.

It is only if you make some divisions and then return to the screen that they will be blanked out.

I know of that exploit, but i don't think it was that. I got that number off of the tool tip as opposed to the construction menu. It shows the number of soldiers of a culture and compares them with the max available. If you use the exploit, the first number will be larger then the second. I only had maybe 6-9 active south german divisions

There are plenty of exploits regarding manpower, for example, if province A has 5 soldier POPs, size 80000 each, you recruit 40 divisions from that province. Send them into a hopeless battle and don't withdraw, it end up if the battle ends in a month with all 40 divisions annihilated, you only lose 1 soldier POP of 80000 size and the others are untouched.
