Will someone help me with this problem? I would like to know japanese equivalents for different HQ levels. If I understand the original OOB corectly, hendan means army and Japan didn't use corps level (still I want to use it, so if there is some japan name, I would like to know it).
And what about about air wings? Their names looks also a bit chaotic in the original OOB

Thanks a lot. After reading this I will probably go with:
theatre -> So-gun -> Homen-gun -> Gun
A bit artificial, but it will work :)

Here is a little help for those people who have obsession with the detail about the IJA names:
Theater HQ:
Kwantug HQ: Kantogun
China HQ: Shinagun
Pacific HQ: Pashifikkugun
Australian HQ: Goushuugun
Indian HQ: Indojingun
Indochina HQ: Indishinagun

Infantry Division: Hoheishidan
Corps: Gun (usually x4 Hoheishidan)
Army: Homen-Gun (usually x4 Gun)
Exp Army: Haken-Gun. This is a weaker form of Army Group. Usually x1 or x2 Homen-Gun, x2 or 3 Gun each, x2 or x3 Hoheishidan each.
Army Group: So-Gun: x4 Homen-Gun, x4 Gux each, x4 Hoheishidan each).

To properly name our Armies (Army, Exp Army, Army Group) we can use a combination of the above with the following:
Burma: Burima (e.g. 1. Burima Homen-Gun etc)
Central: Naka (e.g. Naka-shina So-Gun: Central China Army Group)
Northern: Kita
Southern: Minami
Eastern: Higashi
Western: Nishi
Island: Shima
Shanghai: Shanhai
Philippines: Firipin
Africa: Afurika
Motor: Gendoukishidan
Armor: Kikoushidan
L.Armor:Ranpu Kikoushidan
Eng: Koukei
Regiment: Rentai
Cav: Kikeishidan
Other names we can use:
Independent: Jiei
Mixed: Mikusuto (e.g. 1. Independent Mixed Div= 1. Jiei Mikusuto Hoheishidan or Jieishidan for short name). Attached directly to a Theater HQ.

Now when we conquer the above Areas we have to deploy the Gar divisions and withdraw the ordinary Inf divisions. We can use the word Kempeitai to describe the Police Div (e.g. 1. Kempeishidan or Kempeitaishidan-1st Gar Division).
It can go like this up to the Army Level (1. Burima Kempeitai Homen-Gun etc).

For those who are mad with perfection… :p

Reactions:
It has been a year, but I wanted to thank Vonk for his very informative and useful answer. I am playing as Japanese and finding this list of words a great help! I hope someone could also make a similar effort for fleets and air fleets...
Either way, many thanks Vonk!

Where?

Replying so I can trace back this thread next time I play with Japan...I'm one of those guys.

Thanks Venk.

Wiki seems down tonight, I'll do it when it's up again.

Myself I just use default 1st-nth corps, too much hassle with renaming. Wish Paradox allowed for a way to use custom names automatically instead of American default format.

EDIT: And done.
