One thing I noticed while traversing the Stony Road as Germany, is the poor performance of Japan against Nat China.

I presume that is intentional, but I'd like to ease it for the Japanese AI (while maintaing the difficulty for me as Germany).

Is there an easy way I can script a couple of events to give Japan tech and troops for their lunge into China.

Tips will be greatly appreciated.

:)

I do, big time, right from the start.

I just doesn't seem to be doing the trick, though.

What I have in mind is to either lessen some of the Nat China triggers or up the Japanese.

I am just not a that skilled at modding and need some pointers.

MuaDib's right; the Japs do horribly in every game against the Chinese. I too funnel them technology right from the start and it makes no noticeable difference, other than to upgrade the bizarre Japanese naval air garrison that always migrates to Wilno...

I think the AI is at fault here; Japan always does pretty horribly all around and never even seems to make an effort to capture more than an island or two. The only solution I've found is to get a human to play Japan; this turns the tables dramatically...

In any case, playing SR as Germany remains the more challenging and entertaining game (thanx also to the new order events).
I think that adding some events to US, SU and Japan would be more fun to play with.
(At least with these add-ons it's FAR more fun to play than with vanilla HOI).

Japan in Stony

Like others I make large-scale tech donations to Japan from Jan 1 1937 (when I get the right foreign minister).

The Japanese army was in moderate shape when they declared war on Nat China and for a year or so the provinces around Beijing changed hands between the 2 sides.

By mid-39 the Japs had infantry almost equivalent to the Whermact in technology and doctrines as well as all my industry and electronic tech - they broke through and have conquered 75% of nat China :)

The Jap AI doesn't seem to build much in the way of river-crossing units (armour, mech or motorised) which may explain why they seem to run out of steam when their frontline reaches the rivers in China. A couple of disastrous failed infantry attacks across the rivers would be enough to give China the chance to rout them all the way back into Korea, which is what seems to happen a lot of the time.

Ok I knocked out a lot of the tech & fort gains for Nat China and I added the Worker Efficiency I event to Japan.

It's now end of 1939 in my current game and Japan has progressed nicely.

Whether they'll take Nat China before they dow the Allies remains to be seen, but if they don't I'll amend this some more.
