Japan-US Alliance?

I'm playing US 36GC. It's early 1940 and I've been building up my navy and air force to battle the upcoming war with Japan. I've been keeping 10 spies in Japan, stealing blueprints and trying to keep my relations with them close to 200.

For the heck of it, I thought I'd see if I could join the Japanese alliance. I did a save, just to make sure the lack of coffee was inhibiting my logical thinking process, and asked to join the alliance. They accepted!

So I'm thinking, Now what happens?

I was wondering from all of you:

What could be the benefits and/or drawbacks of this union?

How does this work with the Tri-something-whatever with Germany and Italy?

Any thoughts?

Is Japan Allied with Germany? If so you could end up fighting the allies.

With all your resources at your disposal why not liberate whole Europe when Germans are at the gates of Moscow ?
Take Italy, do an invasion in North West Germany and a second one from Balkans With your fleet it should be easy to conquer Italy in Mediterranean Sea and air power should protect your troops from German airforce.
You could change the history by ensuring neither Communism and Nazism win.
Perhaps go as far to take Ukraine and Belarus from Nazi's and liberate them as capitalist democracies ?
