Obligatory First Year Overview.
1936
Beginning Production and Economy
I consider resources to be my economy. As you can see they are all in the red and Japan's stockpiles are plummeting. This and the reorganization of the Military are my first priorities and will be solved by trading Supplies for money, and trading mainly with the USSR and the US.
First on the Production screen is 10 Ports which will be used in the coming invasion of China. After this more infantry will be trained to give our armed forces the edge in battle.
Leadership Points
As you can see I'm pretty much ignoring Diplomacy, as I won't be using that other than to engage in trades to get my economy stable.
Espionage is very useful, and will be covered later.
I deleted every HQ unit and began a massive reorganization of the military, therefore Officers are very important.
And Techs are being spread out between the infantry, Navy, Industry, and Doctrines.
Espionage
As you can see I have set a priority of 3 to Japan, 2 to the Nationalists, and 1 to the US. I don't expect to be fighting the US right away, so they are the lowest priority.
Homeland Spies are being told to Support the ruling party because Japan's ruling party has one of the lowest organizations and popularity of the politics! Meaning a minority is ruling, and we must make a government ruled by the majority if only to prevent attempted coups. (Supporting my party probably does nothing to affect the game bu I'm doing it anyways.)
Politics
As I said earlier the Control Clique Party has some of the lowest organization and popularity, Japan's spies will hopefully fix that in the coming year or two.
A few ministers were replaced, that's why they're pictures are included in this screen shot, instead of being edited out.
Laws were changed to make Japan a more repressive and war capable country. Overall Japan is a better country for it.
End of year Progress Report
As of Jan. 1 1937
Production and Economy
Most of the ports were completed, and some more infantry divisions have been trained.
The most important thing is that the economy has been stabilized through multiple trades with the USSR, US, and one trade with Shanxi.
Technological Achievements
This didn't really turn out how I wanted it to. But pretty much every tech on there I made progress in or started to make progress in.
To put it simply, Infantry, Naval, Doctrine, and Industrial techs were all improved upon.
Intelligence on the Nationalists
They seem to have little starting army, surprisingly small. So I doubt that this intel is accurate. Their resources seem to be on the critical level. And they seem like they will be a walk over.
Politics
As you can see efforts to increase the Control Clique Party's power have been successful and they are now on the verge of being the majority party.
The Army
This is how the army has been rearranged, down to the corps level.
The Imperial HQ is of almost no use currently, and will be charged with the Island garrison forces.
The Mainland HQ however is different. The North China Army will hold the line against Chinese aggression and will only attempt limited advances to capture the port that is nearest to them.
The main advance however will be with the 1st Invasion Army, which will attempt to secure all the ports of the Nationalists and her allies through amphibious assaults.
