Japan Surrendering in WWW

So is the mainland asia also surrendering in WWW when Japan capitulated a bug or no? It seems in the video Johan states that this isn't a bug but Daniel said it was.

in a normal game at realease if this were to happen will the mainland capitulate also?

I would hope that having all of Japan's territory go to the US is a bug. If mainland Japan were to surrender, the colonial territory should rebel instead of going to the conqueror. The only exception would be if the US had been allied to the USSR, then ex-Soviet territory should be able to become the USSR again.

It was a bug, here is what the dev's said:

its a bug actually fixing it right now. The system johan said works as intended in the stream DOES, but there was another issue triggering here.
basically, the capital got moved to mainland and the surrender triggered from there, rather than the opposite way ;D its kinda rare order of events, so hadnt seen it happen before ever.

Non core gets transferred at surrender..

;D well we are both right the behaviour is correct, but the surrender triggered in the wrong place. we have actually seen this a few times but much less apparent before where france surrendering would leave a few tiny provinces unoccupied. You guys probably havent seen it in the WWW stream tho

It works the same way as in HOI3. When you capitulate oversea areas and things not directly connected are left (so you can fight from colonies). The reason the soviet occupation fell when the japanese home island was taken and they capitualted was due to a bug I squashed yesterday where the japanese capital was moved and THEN they surrendered, rather than the opposite, so they would effectively surrender from manchuria etc and not their island (the island in fact even had some unoccupied bits left on it)

It was a bug. Johan saying it wasn't a bug was Johan in the heat of the moment relishing his sides victory.

The mechanic can be seen in other examples. If it wasn't a bug, then Germany should inherit all of the overseas territory of France, Netherlands, Belgium etc. It doesn't, and that's the way it should work. In the case of Japan, Japan lost its overseas territory, which it shouldn't have.

Good i was hoping that was the answer we were going to get. kinda fragged the game a bit tough.
