That reminds me of how careful you have to be when directing somone to the "first floor" in English. It pays to make sure if they are American or British
In either your Russia or Netherlands Vic2 AAR (too lazy to check) AI UK warred Uruguay for almost half the game (for repaying their debt), their 'war' was still going on by '36 though.I must be missing your reference.
You Yanks really slap a generator on your bike to produce energy for the bikes lights? Or are bikes just not a valid mean of transport stateside? ;pI completely forgot that the British English word "dynamo" is what we Americans call a generator.

When did you last see a Yank on a bicycle?
It's european sense though. Everybody calls first non-ground floor first floor here.Isn't the British sense that the ground floor of a building counts as the "zeroth floor", in a sense?
Well many europeans have lengthy commutes as well. However, for us that's not a reason to drive to friends livinga) a lot of people have lengthy commutes which require an automobile
Well, students aren't exactly swimming in money stateside either, I guess.and you'll see them more frequently on college campuses

Bicycles are largely seen as transportation for children in the US. A very good friend does use his bike rather regularly (or did -- he recently moved and I'm not sure if he still does), and you'll see them more frequently on college campuses. However, by and large, they're not common outside of university towns because a) a lot of people have lengthy commutes which require an automobile
Hmm...When did you last see a Yank on a bicycle?
Unless you're already struggling with negative stability, or it's past ~1700, the stability hit is always to best thing to take, since it comes with a juicy +1 base tax in your capital (there aren't much possibilities to get base tax up either (past the first government-tier building)).![]()
The alternative was to take a stab hit – I’ve almost 600 admin power at this point, which is approaching the point where the smart move is to go for the tech. I really don’t like the morale hit, though, especially when morale is a big deal early on. So what happens a year later?

Not since Conquest of Paradise, in the vanilla game. Can't you cancel the annex vassal process?
And look how that ended.Lance Armstrong.
Lance Armstrong.
Daimyos don't work like regular vassals. He should be able do declare war on Japan, which should break the annexation, whether you have CoP or not.Not since Conquest of Paradise, in the vanilla game.
If you don't have CoP, there's no support for independence and no cancelling of annexations. He probably has CoP since he has support for his independence. But I don't think he can cancel the annexation anyway...
And look how that ended.
You're now beyond the point I never got to in a Japan game. So I've no advice to give, I'm afraid.
That's bad. That's really really bad.
I'm not sure what that CB is. But if you mouse over it the tooltip should give you some ideas.
Usually, you get a sense of what it does by looking at the thing that gives a victory bonus. E.g. Sweden will get a bonus for keeping hold of its capital when fighting for their independence. The HYW gives a bonus to whoever holds Ile De France.
The Joy of less than stellar rulers or heirs! :glare: Research and ideas are gonna take a hit...
1% production!(I really should play as an Asiatic nation sometime soon rather than the more usual European, and Eastern factions...)
The leader skills are calculated as 2 4 sided dice with -2 subtracted for each skill. That is to say, it is possible to get a 0/0/0, which would, however, be once every 4^6, statistically.
I didn't know the AI could annex the player if you were their vassal.
I looked at the wiki for that casus belli and it seems to just let you annex Japan. There was a link to this Let's Play video on the wiki where the guy uses the War for the Emperor war goal and it lets him annex Japan and then become Japan (at around 39-40 minutes in). As far as I can tell, the daimyos are set free at this point, but I didn't watch more of the video to figure it out.

The Emperor calls
Guile, not spears, make a Shogun
Make katanas dance
I think you're overreacting to inflation... I know gold mines tend to generate some steady flow, but until you get in the 10% inflation area is too soon to worry about, not sure which other ones you had offered, but i wouldn't worry about inflation too much yet. (I did something similar in my first run concentrating too much on inflation hunt, but after "few" more games realized that there is no real hurry and there is always that magical button for 75 adm 2% reduction)
As for the military.... the mil. tech 4 offers 0.25 jump in military tactics and military tactics directly cuts your losses... and it's basically 50% jump, it's imo one of biggest jumps in game (the biggest one should be mil tech 12 where you get (western tech group) 21 pips mil. unit over 11 pips. mil. unit)
if you get mil. tech 4 over mil. tech 3 neighbors it's definitely time to war.

Technically speaking, I don't think he even qualifies as a yank, either.
