I've only seen this in one game, but it's also the only game where I've had maps of the area. It's 1620 and I'm Russia. I trade maps with Manchu and discover that Nippon is blessed with two COTs. One is in Kansai and the other in Kanto. Considering they are right next to eachother, this does not seem normal. It should also be noted that Kansai was worth about 475, and Kanto (it only had 3 provinces) was worth 12. :(

True in the game I'm playing right now - same 2 provinces. It was the case back when I discovered Nippon in about 1620.

Wish we could have moving COT's - so that they may end up in the places they are in later scenarios (i.e. moved to Moscow from Novgorod, one opens in Stockholm, etc.).

I've always felt that a CoT should die if it fell below a certain level. This would eliminate the Flanders CoT when Holland opens (original EU thought, haven't played a full GC in EU2 to know if it's the same). Things like that are natural and make good sense.

It is the same in EU2. And I agree; wish the COT's could be more fluid; reflect changes in power that would drive a natural shift in COT's.

Is this where I should mention a COT opened in Andalusia, very close to Tago, in my game?

That one is needed to handle Spain's overseas trade. Althought a lot of that tends to get funneled through Jamaica, Andalusia still never really dies like some.

On the other hand, when Spain annexes Portugal, as they usually do, Tago often shrivels. That one should go. And if Russia or Poland take Kurland, it dies completely, and should go too.

This is the kind of thing I was referring to when I was wishing the COT's would be more fluid. When Sweden becomes a major power, a COT should open in Stockholm - and probably it should be the one in Kurland that goes away to make room for it. The one in Novgorod should move to Moscow when Novgorod is conquered. It should move again when St. Petersburg becomes the capital.

This is the kind of thing I was referring to exactly. When Sweden becomes a major power, the COT should shift from Kurland to Stockholm. When Moscow takes Novgorod, the COT should move to Moscow (later to St. Petersburg with the capital). If Spain annexes, Portugal, the COT should go away. Or at least in all these cases there should be a chance of it happening - that would be even better, more fluid.
