Is there any chance of a January 42 scenario? I think it would be a lot of fun to play the usa in just such a scenario. Any of the allies would likely be fun with it.

I don't see it. The only 1942 scenario is the one on June which is Midway.
I mean as a grand campaign starting point. Like we have for 1936, 1938, 1939, 1941 etc... The USA is in a really bad spot in Jan 42, it would be fun to play the recovery imo.

Yeah, I'm talking about the grand campaign scenario. I don't think they'll make 2 scenarios in one year.
Midway is really too late imo. I would hope for one set before the coral sea.

Yeah, the beginning and the end of the battle. So the USA and Jap players will just be plopped down in the middle of the battle?

Creating grand campaign scenarios is a lot of work for the devs so I think we'll only see a 1st of february 1943 scenario as new compared with HoI2.

Nonsense! I just showed you the 1942 scenario. And here's 1940 scenario (Fall Gelb):

And I'm sure Paradox will also include 1937 scenario to make it complete.

As I like the other dates Im against 37 - its not neccessary - 38 is enough IMO.
My bets are:
- January 1936 Standard
- January 1938 For Multiplayer
- September 1939 Fall Weiss
- May 1940 Fall Gelb
- June 1941 Unternehmen Barbarossa
- June 1942 Fall Blau
- February 1943 Before Unternehmen Zitadelle, Battles for Gustav Line (I dont know other theaters ;) )
- Jun 1944 D-Day

I know, that I may have to wait for an expansion, but whenever there is a talk about scenarios I always think that the best additional one will be "Operation Unthinkable". :)

Are you forgetting the 2nd biggest theatre in WW2 after the Ostfront? July 1937 is the Marco Polo bridge incident. 1937 should be in and in my opinion is more important than 1938 scenario.

That would be a wonderful battlescenario. :)

I really, really hope they include a normal 1945 scenario, though. That would certainly be the first one I play, if they do.

Doesn't prove anything. They just played it to June 4th, 1942.

It would also go against the general philosophy of not having scenario start on the eve of critical "point" battles. The 1944 scenario doesn't start with D-Day (it does start with the Soviet summer offensive, but it's not a situation that could go either way). The only new scenario actually confirmed by Paradox, at any point, is the February 1943 post-Stalingrad one.

Well - the date and the 'ideal' German progres in the east tells me that its rather sure.

Ooo, and I forgot to mention, that I want not a battle scenario "Unthinkable" but a regular one with a little time for preparation, of course. ;)

It may be a scenario setup mock-up for a scenario they are considering, but it was definitely not confirmed at any point that it would be in.

Every additional scenario requires more OOB research, especially ones not previously covered by the series. They've got 2 people working on the OOBs and the setups. The net result will be something resembling the 1944 HoI2 scenario - gaping holes in the setup, not covered until several patches later. And let's not forget that none of the wartime scenario seem to have been properly setup to account for events that have already occured (so the 1941 scenario started with the Dutch Capitulation event, wiping out the Dutch colonial forces...).

As I mentioned in another thread, this is unlikely because Unthinkable never happened (nor would it, as suggested by both the name and the sheer odds facing the Allies), and thus it would be a fantasy scenario.

As all the other standard scenarios are historically accurate (or near as damn it), it would be odd to have one that is largely fictional.

The best thing to do would be to have an accurate, Spring '45 scenario with the possibility of adding Unthinkable as a battlescenario. Remember that we have had fictional battlescenarios before, such as the South American war one.

Personally I'm all for Unthinkable but I don't think they will include it as a full-length scenario.
