As you can see, this is before 1490. As soon as Mehmet dies, it becomes impossible to not have it trigger unless you luck out in rulers (I got a 1/3/0). Keeping AT over 70 is incredibly hard. I took all of Anatolia, Byzantium, fought 2 coalition wars against Europe, fought Iberian alliance, fought Mamluks twice, fought QQ and kept all my forts active. And I still couldn't stay up in AT.

The disaster triggers way too fast. I understand it's meant to counterbalance the incredibly powerful buff from the Janissaries, but maybe it could nerfed and make the disaster pop after a certain time period (say late 16th century). It's pretty lame that the signature troops of the Ottomans can't stay past the first ruler (in game) to implement them.

AI seems to have the exact same problem as they generally don't keep it past mid-16th century if they get it from my experience.

Except you're wrong. Take Quality ideas and keep your forts up. Perpetually wage war. You will never lose it unless you get into a regency.

With Quality + Fort maintenance, you will lose about 1.5 AT a year. With Quality+Defensive+Forts, you lose 0.5 a year. It has never been easier to maintain high AT.

Did you read the OP? I was at constant war for the first 40 years and had all forts maintained. I didn't even get a chance to get my second idea group. I got the buff around 1450 and it started ticking around 1480.

The only reason I wasn't at war in the pics is because I was gearing up for fighting Iberia after taking Egypt and the 3rd coalition war (would fire during Iberian war as predicted).

To expect the AI to keep the buff when a player can't keep it with that kind of constant warfare is impossible.

The real issue with Janissary Decadence is that, as mentioned, it triggers too quickly, but it's also far to easy to undo. It should be a long, difficult affair to remove the Janissaries.

70% AT is ridiculous, it can be done i'd guess if you rush Quality, but it's still too high a value...

The whole Janissary decadence thing is a bit weird anyway.
Considering that their decadence was in big part coming from a sequence of mentally ill sultans, being controlled by either the Harem or other influential advisors.
Istanbul simply became a big House for Power struggles within their Empire, Janissaries were only one Faction in that struggle.

connecting it to a historical timeframe is also wrong, because an intelligent player should be able to prevent the problem alltogether.
