I've never been able to play the game - any help appreciated

Hi Folks,

I've seen threads in the past about problems running the game in Steam, due to a Visual C++ Runtime error, but I still haven't been able to solve them.

"The Application has requested the runtime to terminate in an unusual way"

I've tried deleting every Visual C++ application on my PC and re-installing, reinstalled CKII dozens of times, checked the cache, files, etc., but still get this error about 20 seconds into the loading screen.

I was resigned to just never being able to play the game, but with the integration into EUIV, I figured I'd give it one more shot.

I'm running a Windows 7, Intel i7 970 3.2G, Nvidia GeForce 570 (2) rig.

Any help would be appreciated....Thanks

Please try installing:

First: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5555

After that: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=8328

Then: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35
(If that doesn't do anything then http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109 )

Then: visit the Windows Update site and allow it to apply all .NET updates/patches it wants to, for all .NET versions.


Then right-click on ck2.exe and ck2game.exe and set them to run as the Admin user, and to disable desktop composition.
And then check if you can run the game after that.
