I was playing as Abbasids and it was pretty boring in 1200s, I've conquered a lot of land and there were constant rebellions...

So I've decided to switch to another country, thought about Poland or Germany but ended up deciding on England and it turns out it was a good idea since...

Abbasid numbers were too big even for very strong English retinues...

AI didn't care for pretty borders - it just wanted more land and ended up like this...

It looks even more impressive after conversion to EU IV.

Now I'm on a quest to create British Empire richer and more powerful than this monster :D

Final save of Victoria 2

Few notes to devs:
Abbasids have generic national ideas after conversion
Diplomacy with such big empire in CK2 is extremely laggy

We really need better anti-blobbing mechanics, sorry to say so...
I've found that distance opinion_modifier penalty is a very good place to start; I gave -15/-30/-60/-90 based on distance. But no matter what mechanics are put in place, wily human players will usually find a way to defeat or overcome it...

+1 for anti blobbing mechanics, but I'm not sure about an opinion penalty for distance, it should at least be reduced for a vassal of the same culture. I have no better idea though.

Distance modifier makes a lot of sense. In those days when a courier would take weeks to go from A to B the idea that you can issue instant command (and be obeyed) is pretty much fantasy. You wouldn't even hear about a guy rebelling until he's killed your loyalist in the area.

This could be epic mega-campaign, if only there would be a way to export save from Victoria 2 to Darkest Hour then perhaps nukes would destroy this monster :D

Nukes? No need. Just time your [st]great holy war[/st] crusade well, and bring your righteous fury. After all...

But, really, where are your mega colonies? I still see available coastline.

(Also, I would mod that megablob to be the hre tag in the converter. VERY interesting Europe, rather than a static monster blob).

Problem is that well... they are in western techgroup too...

There are more colonies now, but I don't have to hurry with coastlines as Abbassids don't have exploration ideas and there is no-one else in Europe... :D

Right now I try to get their trade from Gulf of Aden, but it's kinda hard since they got hundreds of trade ships... My income is around 450 and theirs is 1700...

My plan is to rush to wargalleons, build 100-200 of them and sink their navy since I got all naval ideas already.

Interesting idea with HRE, here's my final save if anyone wants to try. Abbasids crown authority also has to be lowered since it's absolute.

No.
There used to be a revolt chance based on distance, at game release, but the mechanic worked poorly. Example: I am king of England. The duke of Cornwall is my vassal. A relative of the duke of Cornwall becomes duke of Ascalon after a crusade, and my vassal inherits it. Now he is the duke of Cornwall and Duke of Ascalon. So, how exactly is the opinion malus to be determined?? If his capital is in Cornwall, it would be 0, and if his capital is in Ascalon, it wil be -90. See the problem?

The solution is to increase revolt risk for distant, unconnected counties. And a vassal limit, so you are forced to delegate power to 10-20 vassals instead of hundred.

Yes.

There used to be a revolt chance based on distance, at game release, but the mechanic worked poorly.
Are you assuming that I came up with the same exact logic and script coding as PDS did? I didn't slap a flat revolt chance on distant holdings from my capital... I simply made it harder to please those distant vassals, so they're more likely to conspire in factions for independence and all sorts of shenanigans.

Nope, I see no problem--he can't have both as primary titles, he can't designate both as his capital, and he can't reign in both courts at once. If his capital is in Cornwall, he won't dislike me, but his vassals in Ascalon will dislike him. If he's in Ascalon, then he will dislike me, while his vassals back in Cornwall will hate him in return. Sounds fine to me. If his demesne limit is high enough for him to hold ALL counties in Ascalon AND Cornwall while his capital is in Cornwall... great, no one needs to dislike any other!

The solution is to increase revolt risk for distant, unconnected counties.
So only punish oversea colonies/strongholds instead of continent-spanning empires? Quick, someone tell the Mongols about this great news.

And a vassal limit, so you are forced to delegate power to 10-20 vassals instead of hundred.
Now THAT is an arbitrarily imposed limit.
