I remember at the start before the current faction suppression system your sectors where much more likley to declare Independence. its to easy to supress in the games current format.

I think they need to add more options here. Say for example you have 200 systems and some of them are inhabited by xeno isolations you conquered, and you also have your own species but ones whoes ethics have diverged significantly from your loyalists.
1. The xeno iso's should effect production on every planet they inhabit - and you should be able to negoate them to a vasel state, you Choose 4 or 5 worlds that have the right climate and ALL pops from that species relocate from all your planets to these worlds you are giving them. Your species leaves them and you create a loyal vassel and the protests stop.
Same thing if you have a new religious faction in your species you could offer them self governece.

The only way you should be able to easielly maintain a large empire if you are playing fanatic purgers and you purge all alines and any of your own species whoes ethics diverge. Other than that it should be next to impossible to totally blob the map.

Oh and when creating a vassel you should be able to choose colour. flag ect
when one openly rebells and wins they choose their own ect

I wonder if they could work something in like an autonomy system for sectors? Not sure how it would work with potential updates coming in the near future, but maybe you can grant a sector more and more autonomy possible leading to them becoming a vassal or even breaking away? Not sure how it would work, but something to consider.

I tend to RP sectors as being semi autonomous parts of the empire, something like say the dominions of the British Empire in the early 20th century. If I ever gain a vassal (my prefered method of conquest instead of outright taking control of planets) I will rename the sector after the vassal I just absorbed.

The problem is you just tend to get popamole rebellions that the player ends up just conquering back. Not very fun.Players generally want to expand and not lose it.The faction system should hopefully add more fun.Stellaris just doesn't have the depth in mechanics that Vicky or EU Has.There is little point to having vassels, ert apart from roleplay..

I do the same when i integrate a vassel. My 1st sector is always called Local Terran Systems (if im playing humon) and after that all conquered systems get renamed after the previous owner
