I think this last DLC was excellent. I would've paid a lot more for it and still have been happy that I bought it

I also don't think a shiny new map is worth the loss of details in the the game and future details that aren't just playing catch up with the previous version.

I think the DLC was good. There were a number of issues. The major bugs it had were worked out even though some bits are annoying. And I like the Mercenary system, it just needs some fairly heavy tuning.

The general QOL improvements from 1.30 are great, but could go further.

The big issues are things that predate Emperor. In particular the AI’s fiscal situation and everything that springs from that. I don’t see it as really being any worse now than before Emperor, but it was a major issue anyway. If they can get the AI spend and manage their money more wisely the game would drastically improve (and, yes, that means few to no coastal batteries)

I think the game still has a ton of potential. I'd personally like to see some more overhaul added to colonial nations. Make them more fun to play, more dynamic to look at, and more detailed of an experience to have them as vassals. Maybe some alt-history scenarios where colonial nations start popping up earlier or a situation where they "go native".

As long as trade system is completely reworked (No fixed flow), MP is detached from development and combat system is fleshed out, I'm in.

I don't wan't more of the same with shiny graphics. I'll keep playing EU4 otherwise.

I would love a new EU game to get rid of all the bloat numeros dlc's have added. But with the way paradox is run now, I'm not sure it would be any good.

Just look at imperator on release, it was clearly made with bare minimum features with the clear intend to add on via dlcs. That is clearly a lucrative way to run things, but not something I would support any more. I don't want to essentially having to pay 200-300€ just to get the game anywhere near EU4

It was clearly built as an updated EU:Rome, but that wasnt enough as people have been spoilt by how good EU4 and CK2 is. The game wasnt anywhere as bad as people claim at launch and has been updated steadily for a year for free and now its actually a very good game.

Imperator might have been good a decade ago, but by 2018 it was deeply flawed. Many of the greatest games of all time would have been considered utter tosh if they were released now.

And no, that they managed to make it a decent game or that it has “future potential” is not a valid excuse for releasing something that is bad. It is a positive for the company that they spent time and money making it good for free than selling the fixes as DLC, but it doesn’t make Inpertor at launch a good game.

I think they are waiting to see how CK3 fares so they get an idea how proffitable sequels are.
All of Paradox's sequels have been profitable since 2001.

Recent sequels (EU4, HOI4, CK2) have been massively profitable.

- 1.30 had the longest development cycle yet it is riddled with bugs. The EUIV code base has clearly become too bloated to update.

I always assumed the length of the cycle had more to do with DDRJake's sudden exit throwing a monkey wrench into the whole process rather than the coding being difficult or man-hour expensive.
