Hello ladies and gents, I've noticed a few remarks regarding the colouring/filtering of the game over recent days and couldn't help but notice something else.

It's the glass:

2qbadjr.jpg

This was taken from the most recent video and I think it reveals the issue most have with the look of the game. The glass is all coloured the same and just looks very plain and non reflective. The glass on the vehicles is also the same.

Here I think is a nice example of what glass should look like during the day with the different varieties of glass colouring / reflectiveness:

So, I've had a little look at the bluish colour that lots of us are talking about. And I think that it's really just a filter or something.

In this video (that's been shared on these forums recently) you can see that the filters seem to be like what they were like before. And that's not it.

There are also some pictures you can find Steam that I've shared on another forum post, here's one of them:
ss_6f4c36540698fd158f95bc586fb02b89c7852d96.1920x1080.jpg

Moo has said on this post that this is one of the filters in the game. If you open this picture on fullscreen on a new tab, you can see a couple of glass buildings that don't seem to be too blue.

And that last bit that I think really settles it, is this photo:
637x358.resizedimage

This photo was from one of the shared cities on the Steam workshop. It's a remake of a city that someone made in CiM (New Cavendish City) This city was posted on February the 8th on the Steam workshop, which is after that bluish tint was introduced to us. It seems to be that lighting that we've liked, and was in the older screenshots. You can see here, that the glass buildings are a grey colour. (also, a black train...)

Now, I don't know why the Devs used that blueish tint on everything for the trailer and recent videos, but I'm sure that we can get that look we had earlier. I can't confirm this, this is just based on what I've found, so don't blame me if I'm wrong.

I doubt those charts can really apply here. My god the blue filter looks terrible when it's compared to screens without it, who was the idiot who kept pushing that horrible filter down our throats?

I ask myself this every time I look at pictures with the Blue tint. :angry:If we can get it to look like that last picture then for me it's a buy. I'm not investing in a new computer for the blue look though. If someone from CO could confirm the other look then i'll start looking for my new PC.:)

The colours here are pretty much OK-ish. Way better than those stupid yellow/blue ones. Who ever thought this was a good idea also propably likes that cartoonish look.
If we ever get that setting back is unclear I think. At some thread Totally Moo said that the old filter "can´t be reestablished"... or something like that.

But you can create your own neutral filter or switch off the filters completely.
Sure, sure... so they keep on telling. I still wait to get more than mere announcements. We have to wait until release I guess, but until then I won`t believe it. What they have shown under "Mod it" in the trailer was only an ingame tool for park creation and the map editor. That´s not what we talk about when we speak of modding.

The colour is not the main reason the buildings look bland, it's the the fact that individual windows are all the same.

In real-life buildings, even through reflections you will see darker and lighter windows, depending on the interior. Some windows will have partially closed curtains or blinds. There should be lot more variety, it's not just bands of a single colour on each floor.

It's actually the other way around lol. TotalyMoo said the tropical city (the one you posted) has a filter on it. I'm assuming the blueish color is the default filter.

Right? Basically all the last screenshots looked like that. Something happened what they don´t want to tell us. Not a word other than "this is what it will look like on release". Either they had to cut down for performance or they simply screwed up.

Maybe they have just been playing the game so long with the same colors they got sick of staring at it and when someone was playing around with color filters they all liked it better and swapped over? Sometimes you can get too familiar with something and get sick of it and change to something worse just for the sake of change.

Also, it looks like the reflections are only applied to the skybox for performance reasons... much easier to calculate only vs. the sky. It might be possible to fake some things from the higher angles by putting some darker grays in the sky below the horizon if it is still using the sky for those angles (and if the sky extends a full sphere). If not, they could add a separate 'skybox'-type object below the horizon that is grays and used in the reflection as well. (Maybe even a unique one-time calculated one for each landscape that roughly approximates where distant oceans, hills, mountains, plains, etc. would be located relative to the horizon, but then it would look really odd when skyscrapers are in blocking locations during fairly level views, which is already a problem with the sky reflection as it appears to be now.)

I detect a conspiracy theory:) However I'm inclined to agree. It has not been explained why we can't go back to the original look despite the demand (even by way of one of the filter options). I'm not an I want it now person but if they said it would be re-introduced as an update later I would be more than happy. Did someone screw-up?, makes me think so.

To all that psychology stuff, blue is supposed to be calming and make you trust them? Because all I've seen the blue filter do is induce rage and made people not trust CO to deliver a beautiful game.
