There are two ways.
1. Autosave reset: Task manager and end the process. Will restart Ironman to last autosave.
2. Save point: Go to save file, make a new folder there, copy and paste. Don't like the outcome? Copy file you pasted in the new folder, paste it over undesired file.
I usually only really use 2 for starts, though nothing is stopping you from using it at any point in the game. Randoming for a starting ruler with good stats is tedious.

End task is the way to go.
So long as the game pulls garbage like this, having the ability to offset the game's operating in bad faith is useful.

couldnt you just copy the ironman save into a backup folder and and paste/overwrite the save as needed? Ive heard people say they need to quit via task manager because it saves when you resign. So...im guessing its this saving that makes the save 'different' and prevents this type of savescum?
Ending process in task manager sometimes corrupts the save though. Not so bad for modded game, but when doing achievement runs you do not want to risk ANY save game corruption, be it ending game process in task manager, unstable internet connection, unstable power connection etc.
I save scum in specific conditions:
1) miss clicks
2)want to see result of event
3)I WANT TO SPECIFICLY AIM SOMETING(as god king of germanic I decided to become immortal too and after some amount of restarts I was

I pinned the ck2 exe to the start bar and running it from there didnt show me playing to my friends. I guess that also means its offline play because it broke my ironman.
Why do you need to use task manager though? Why not just resign to title screen like normal and just paste replace the old save file to the paradox save folder?
Task manager end process blocks the automatic save you'd normally have when exiting.
If you copy save to a different folder in advance you can put it back in and go back that way.
wait a second...so if people feel the need to save by task manager, then m guessing saving in any way outside of saving and exiting breaks the ironman achievements? So using quicksave is a no no?
Quicksave is fine. It won't let you save scum unless you copy the file somewhere else though.
