Under the later patches can the Pope still become emperor? That shouldn't be right should it since the HRE and Pope were constantly in conflict over rule over christians or am I wrong about that ever happening?

I belive the brits get a "super spy" event that gives hem a couple random RMs. Although spending 3 with the OE only kinda sucks.

While on the subject of ridiculous emperors and who should be prohibited from the throne, wouldn't it make sense for all vassalized states to be exempt from being elected? Milano was my vassal in this game when they were elected emperor and I found that very funny and, more seriously, completely illogical.
At the very least, being elected emperor ought to break your vassalized status, perhaps even without the steep stab. penalties. Just a thought.

Particularly during the latter half of the GC some strange alliances are not too uncommon. What happens is that a minor nation revolts into existence -- Helvetia, for example -- and looks for a dance partner, but all the natural candidates are already taken. So she grabs anyone she can, and it's as likely to be Aden as Prussia. For a new nation its relations with almost everybody are neutral as religion and other effects haven't yet had time to change relations.
