Greetings from a newbie to the Hoi series - LOVE this game! Please give guidance. Sorry for the length!

I joined the Axis as the Kiwi Empire (as one does) and have helped them overtake everything on the globe except the southern third of Africa and North America. I control Australia, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

I control most all of the rubber and decided to try going closed economy - does that afflict my Axis friends as well as the others? I'd like to just withhold rubber from the filthy enemy, if possible.

Anyways, it's 1971. Over the last 5 years or so, have declared on Brazil and have pumped up fascism in other smaller, unaligned SA countries. They all have their independence guaranteed by America, but I have gotten them to change their govts to fascist and have improved relations to 100%, and they still don't join the Axis. I can't invite them, because I am not the leader of the Axis. Is there something else I need to do?
Italy did push into Brazil and got them to capitulate, but now a new upstart allied Brazil govt has overthrown them.

Current status is that I've been making subs and destroyers and providing convoy escort/convoy destruction around the entire globe. We have control of almost all ocean territory, and definitely all territory where I see the AI planning invasions.

Also pumping out nukes and planes, maintaining air superiority over all areas where I see the Axis fighting.

Japan is trying to take Hawaii (which I've been starving of supply with my subs, and also maintaining air superiority/CAS/naval bombing) and is repeatedly beaten back. Dropped a couple nukes while the Japanese were en route there - nothing.

It feels like the last ten years or so the AI has been confused - the entirety of Europe/Asia/India/Middle East/Northern half of Africa are entirely fascist Axis powers. When I zoom in there, I see hundreds of German and Italian divisions just loitering around. I can't tell if their MP divisions, they look like infantry to me. I'm like - Uh, dearest Fuhrer, please send this massive army into Washington DC so I can finish this game, please! Instead, they send a division or two at a time and are immediately repulsed. That's with me providing control of all oceans and air superiority everywhere, too.

What should I do??

Thanks for reading!

I would start your own landing in central America. Build up forts and AA on favorable contigous provinces. Once they're done, declare war on the next country up, repeat the forts and AA. Eventually America will send troops to fight you, the forts will let you bleed off his manpower without too many losses of your own.
And since the game got to this point, you seem to be patient enough for this to work.
Also I'd say only contest sea control after the landings have happened.

I long ago had to disband all but MPs in order to get the manpower for my air force and navy. Though I guess since I'm all built out industry-wise I could conscript more and do just that.

Will unaligned, fascist countries ever join us? Or is that just a waste of PP trying to do that?

If it's 1971 you could honestly just brute force the AI. Charge straight in.

The problem with this is it puts you into am industrial fight with America as to who can out produce the other.. and America not only has great industry, they have some major buffs to it through NF.
Will unaligned, fascist countries ever join us? Or is that just a waste of PP trying to do that?
If you can flip them before America completes the fascist menace then America will get cb against them and force them into your faction through war... After that though I'm not sure if it is or not...
Honestly thpugh if it's 1971 you're probably put of other things to spend the PP on.

Always nice to see a fellow Kiwi - or Kiwi player ;)

Most nations in South America won't join the Axis. They have good relations with America and aren't threatened by them- because of Americas National Focuses.

Having the same ideology doesn't mean they'll join your faction.

Closing your economy will close it to everyone, yes that includes faction members. And it's only a bit of rubber, America are your only real threat, and since you're at war with them, they can't trade with you for it anyway. It's not worth closing your economy for it.

I have to admire your persistence in playing so long, especially considering the game starts to lag a bit after 1943ish. The AI gets horrible after this point too. So don't expect them to succeed in taking America.

If you'd like to play most of your games for that long, I highly recommend the Road to 56 mod. Which, as you might have guessed, extends the game to 1956, with bigger focus trees and an extended tech tree. It adds so much to the game, almost a total overhaul, and adds trees to nations who don't have them. (DLC trees will stay the same though, if you own the DLC or have it activated). If you only wanted the longer tech tree, and no overhaul for the rest, you can look up the mod and it'll be a sub-mod of it :)

Best of luck!

17 divisions, all 20-wide. Half marines, half mountaineers. Landed in Ecuador (Western SA) and have mopped up most of SA. Holy hell, going through jungle is SLOWWWWW :)

You might also want to consider restarting the game with a different country. I never go more that 1945-48 since the technology and the focus simply run out. In your game you had a very large number of events and new technologies for 7 years and then you play for decades as if nothing new could be invented. Also, in terms of diplomacy there is no mechanics for the African liberation wars, for Cold War, for proxy wars, for the Middle East conflicts etc. The resources are the same forever etc. I love this game, but I create my own objectives and time frame to achieve them and stick to it. ( I only play SP as my schedule will not allow for more)

I did end up winning in 1983. I posted screenshots of it but they were taken down because of some nazi symbols that I didn't know weren't supposed to be shown. But it was a great game!
