Italy is the only major (venice) all others are annexable, yes inca empire was annexed several years ago. yes we can annex portugal if the doge wanted to, but he has already commanded we take only pieces of land to curb our badboy. so it has been done.

TO THE LAST YEAR OF A DOGE AND THE INVESTIGATION OF A MURDER
SUMMARY
This is the final year of Doge Misha rule over Italy. He was the first to herald in a new era for Italy, new rule for such a great nation. He made so many changes during his term that altered the aar, errr the course of the country . First he brought the capital to Rome and further molded a modern Italy and the united Republic it sought to be. He squashed revolts from within and beat down many enemies. He held his own against a strong Pope and built an Empire of gold that would eclipse even the riches of Spain herself. Gloria to a mighty Doge, Gloria to a mighty nation ITALY. But the year brought sorrow as investigation of the Murder of the great Carolus Rex began. Doge Misha would not have to bear the weight of solving the case, instead the Doge elect Xanadu would enter the light with a new responsibility and a new Vision.
JANUARY-FERBRUARY
The experience that Gen Robert gained from the late Carolus Rex was crucial and noticeable when he took control of the fortress in Algrave Portugal. Mainland portugal was now under the flag of Italy. Queen Catarina from the safety of Madrid offered Doge Misha Recife for peace but again it was refused. He wanted Tangiers and was hoping that Gen Robert would get out of portugal and quickly take Tangiers to end the war but it was not to be for some time as the fleet licked its wounds from attrition.
On february 15th it became apparent that the people of Italy were once again becoming angry over such a long war. Suddenly nightmarish images of years past disgraces flashed past Misha. He knew that not so long ago this exact situation came upon Italy in war against England. He was determined to get this war over with before revolts started and he refused to be forced to pay england for that peace. He only wished he had Carolus Rexs opinion on what to do next but he Trusted fully in Gen Robert.
Feb 20th Misha ordered the fleets of italy to get its act together and forget about losses. He ordered them to join into one fleet of 38/0/6 and together sail to england with the Holy Legion and Gen Robert and take anglia to force peace on England.
28th The fires that blazed in tyrol, odenburg and styria from the war last year finally go out, peace and prosperity once again for those people.
Senator Xanadu takes 3 transports and 2000men and heads for the coast of africa to help take out more Portuguese trade posts.
MARCH
23rd Doge Misha and all of Italy is hit hard by the news that Poland had payed England 114ducats for peace. What Italy considered to be its stongest ally had virtually lost the war to a puny island nation led by a youthful queen. This was worrisome indeed.
Upon the action taken by Poland and the riots (not revolts) that began around Italy to protest the war, Doge Misha knew that chances were high for revolts. So he sent out many diplomats to make peace in honorable terms.
26th Italy makes white peace with Teutonic order then with the Hansa and surprisingly England accepts a white peace with Italy. Doge Misha is delighted but the Palatinat refuses peace and so chances of ending the war came to a halt.
MAY
Italy continues to steal trade posts in brazil from Portugal however fails to build its own post in Guyana.
4th Doge Misha in a show of gratitude to his close ally France gives King Francois 250ducats in gifts to improve relations (+93) but the gift only raised relations to (+97) it seemed that France was upset also with Italies warmongering and wanted it to end.
6th Itlay establishes a monopoly in mexico , taking much business away from the spanish.
23rd Azuay colony increased to 300pop
28th Da Raguso in north amerigo discovers Hochelaga and continues to find new land for Italy to claim.
JUNE
Economy shoots up to 177.7 thanks to the economy spurred on by monopoly in mexico.
25th Xanadu nears Ciskei and spots many Turks in the area, he says they are like insects all around.
JULY
25th Xanadu is attacked near Ciskei by 3 portuguese warships, He barely gets his ships to safety in ciskei port. His three transports stand no chance against warships.
AUGUST
9th settlers fail to expand Yarumal
19th Storias cavalry takes another post from portugal,
22nd Xanadu who now tries to sail out to sea is trapped in port by one portuguese warship, he wants to get back up the other side of africa to claim the portugal colony of Malindi.
23rd Tangiers begins to burn, victory is near
28th 21000 men from the Palatinat lay siege to Helvetia, this alarms citizens and they demand an end to all the wars. Doge Misha prays for victory in Tangiers soon, perhaps he thinks, if he should just forget tangiers and just make peace. Senator Niccolo reminds him to be strong and the two continue their great friendship
29th Da Raguso beats natives in Huron a new territory, he begins exploration of the great lakes, more victory points for italy.
SEPTEMBER
2nd At last Italy takes Tangiers, negotiations with Portugal begin for peace. He buys some time though so that Gen Storia in south amerigo can burn as many enemy trade posts as possible leaving brazil barren except for one colony.
Xanadu continues to be stuck in Ciskei, he grows anxious to help the republic by getting free to take more Portugal land but cant. He tries again to sail for freedom hoping the POrtugal warship would miss him however it did not and a one sided battle started. Xanadu was old and could not fight but his men did. Unfortunately they didnt fight good enough and portugal set Xanadus ship on fire and the italians panicked forgetting about senator Xanadu in the ship. Xanadu did all he could but could not escape the fiery death as his ship broke apart and burned as it sank. Xanadu the old faithful senator was dead a hero, it would be his son ByTor who would be elected Doge in his fathers place only a few months later. Hail to a great man xanadu, hail to a great Senator of the Republic now gone from us.

1st A revolt springs up in Apulia, now doge misha knows he must act quickly to end the war and so on the 3rd he gains a white peace with the Palatinat and after Storia burned brazil, Portugal ceded to Italy the lands of Tangiers, Oporto and the Curitiba colony in far south amerigo, a good port. The wars were over and the people celebrated and peace was at hand again for Italy.
18th Turkey declares war on the Mamelukes, joined against the mamelukes are oman, aden, hedjaz, algiers, wallachia.
28th Trade post is established in Guyana
29th Da Raguso battles more natives this time in Oshawa he wins again easily
NOVEMBER
24th Italy and France exchange maps as a show of good faith by Italy and now the maps show more of the far east and routes through the great oceans.
France builds a trade post near Cartagina called Tucovo, france is now a colonial power.
DECEMBER
12th colony in Azuay expanded to 400 pop, closer to more gold riches.
16th Gen Storia becomes a senator of Italy in rome once again after traveling back to the Republic shores from his looong expedition in south amerigo, what a difference he made.

As the year ended so too did Doge Mishas rule. However lingering effects of the war continued as Apulia revolted still and much of Italies army was out of place in far off lands especially iberia. Only the savoy army of only 11,000 men was there to crush revolts in italy. The year ended with only 100ducats in the treasury and no closer to a conclusion to the murder of Carolus Rex. Also Spain and France were still at war. Austria, Spain, palatinat and portugal also were at war still against france, poland or hungary. so while Italy basked in its new found glory and riches, its allies suffered under more bloodshed for its sake. Doge Xanadu would have work to do to repair the countries badboy image and yet continue the incredible expansion of the great italian empire.

As the year ended so too did Doge Mishas rule. However lingering effects of the war continued as Apulia revolted still and much of Italies army was out of place in far off lands especially iberia. Only the savoy army of only 11,000 men was there to crush revolts in italy. The year ended with only 100ducats in the treasury and no closer to a conclusion to the murder of Carolus Rex. Also Spain and France were still at war. Austria, Spain, palatinat and portugal also were at war still against france, poland or hungary. so while Italy basked in its new found glory and riches, its allies suffered under more bloodshed for its sake. Doge Xanadu would have work to do to repair the countries badboy image and yet continue the incredible expansion of the great italian empire.

As just one of the many writers of this awesome aar, let me just thank you for that help, im sure it will help new readers and senators alike. I love historical timelines of events like that. This Republic of Italy aar is taking great shape, i am proud you all are the first to help me bring interactive rpg to the aar forum. Infact i think we should have our own forum as this aar heralded a revolution in aars like mosquito was saying and belongs in a class by itself and an example to the rest. Sorry to be constantly asking, but I like maps and they help alot in figuring out what's going on. Could you provide a post-war political map for both Europe and Vespucci?

Carolus, I spent 3 years in Vicenza, which is between Verona and Venezia (Venice). Loved it. Great food, wonderful place to have your family, as Italians love kids. I liked Venice. I loved all those beautiful girls. Topless beaches, God,when will Americans ever grow up?

Warspite, you never did address my suggested actions regarding the Pope. I hope my character sheet was up to your standards. Really wasn't too sure how to rank his abilities, but it seems to me 8 and 9 should be fairly rare. There are exceptions, of course, for instance the American Revolution.

Misha or Paolo will head undercover to Austria to look for clues. The hatred & fear there of the great Carolus Rex is legendary.
Also, Misha is looking forward to retirement after his strenuous years as Doge, which have aged him so visibly. But he has asked the new Doge By Tor Xanadu to confirm his outgoing appointment of his "nephew" Paolo as Chief of the Service. Misha believes that Paolo, although still young, will make an excellent chief spy for the Republic.
