So what's a good strategy for Italy then? I don't want to mess about in the mostly worthless African theater. Upon closer inspection, there's next to no resources or IC that would benefit me down there. That, coupled with the low Infra, means it's not worth my time, in my opinion. So...
Should I ally with Germany as soon as I can to gain blueprints, and then leave just before they attack France?
Should I wait until they conquer France and -then- join? Perhaps to attack Greece, Yugoslavia, or Republican Spain?
Any suggestions?
I think the best course is to concentrate all of your Africa force back to Italy main land.
Yugoslavia, Albania, Bulgaria, Hungary should be all target for expansion.
Depending how strong you want Germany to be, you can even take Austria and Czechoslovakia but Germany might declare war on you. (happened once)
Romania would be interesting, you can definitely annex it too, however, I would prefer to keep Romania a puppet because a)I want a buffer between Soviet so it would less likely to declare war on me. b)it have good number of standing army division and if you can avoid annihilating most of them, you get a strong puppet.
I avoid attacking French because of the complication (wasting time and force while gaining little). Spain is a good target only if you want to control one of the gate to Mediterranean, but for me I believe it would be hard to defend and difficult to transport force back and forth. (Vichy in between and sea rule by Royal Navy)
Then the only problem now is supplies, even with trading, there is still a high chance to not having enough supplies for 100% IC, so the only logical result is to get it from Soviet.
