I dont know if its a bug or not but it seems pretty broken by attacking a major country italy can do the focus named Superaereo and by going down in that focus path Italy can open airplanes in the picture

Italy doesnt get the researches but gets to use the engine that any of these variants has. I believe this is a mistake because getting these planes early on is pretty game changing not gonna lie

you can test by doing focuses in the pic and looking to your airplane production tab.

Yeah, it's quite odd buff. I was playing historical run as Italy. I joined the axis and helped Germans with France from south. When I saw that these focuses can create variants of planes I've decided to rush them, but I haven't noticed the jet one. It left me confused seeing it in production option knowing that I haven't even researched the Jet engine and the year was still 1939. I have made few of them and it helped me pretty much with paradrop mission in London. It is a good buff and exploit at some point, but maybe they could do the same thing like they did with the tanks, make it available only when you research Jet Engine and Jet plane module.

Italy was actually flying jets in 1941. They even put one in a demonstration airshow in mid 1941 for foreign dignitaries--including from enemy nations.

Although the aircraft did fly, it was nowhere ready for production. One issue, IIRC, was the cockpit was overheated--like in really too damn hot. The concept was very advanced for its time--ramjet power plant. Efforts must have been made to fix the issues, but obviously none succeeded. Italy's late war jet design was dependent on the German engine-which was never shipped for testing in the prototype.

If Italy was to find a mountain of gold somewhere, or perhaps stayed out of the war, the jet effort might have been possible. It took the USA until the 1950's to come up with a dependable ramjet. In the world of HoI, almost all is possible.

True, only its maximum speed was 375 km / h, which is lower than non-jet aircraft equivalent in time. And without the afterburner, which was not originally on Caproni-Campini, the maximum speed was only 330 km / h, which is less than that of the I-15 biplane, which was produced since 1934.

They had a motorjet -- a hybrid of a reciprocating engine driving the compressor and a jet. Motorjets were never feasible for RL applications. Just a stepping stone in turbojet research.

Turbojet. Ramjet though being the simplest from the outside needs hypersonic speeds to wave-compress the air. So the practical application of ramjets is taking off only now. Literally now. They were built before yet those were no more than experiments.

I think of posting it also on bug reports since it seems like a bug, in italys tank focusses you research the chassis first and then you get the variant for it. I dont think paradox would intentionally let someone open 45 tech in 37

For the record, this doesn't actually put them ahead of the curve- the first jet aircraft to fly under its own power was the Heinkel He 178 which flew in 1939. It just took half a decade to go from "tech demo" to "release version".

There's a world of difference between flying a demonstration model and being ready to produce functional war machines. Any aircraft spends years being tested and adjusted before enough kinks are worked out to make it ready for practical use, and this applies to an even greater degree when it is built around a new form of technology.

How early can Italy obtain jet planes?

I've not played as Italy, but I've heard that Italy can obtain jet fighters in mid-1937.

Mid-1937, is that true?

You can get them by attacking yugoslavia (which gets you in a war with france if you attack france probably uk will guarantee it) in early game, the focus needs you to be in a war with a major power or if you dont want to fight with france you can just attack the united front by joining the japanese faction and then getting it

Interesting.

Just for clarification, please:

Can Italy get jet aircraft by mid 1937?
