Last Monday I started an August 1939 game as Italy.
Troops, navy and air wings fully equipped and nearly fully trained in three months...
I already was in Axis faction so I justified on UK (Malta island).
Declared war to Brits on 10 December 1939.
I decided not to take Malta at the beginning, in order to avoid an early naval battle with Royal Navy (I had only two old BBs)
Justified to Jugoslavia at the beginning of the war.
Took Corsica, took French Gibuti, took British Somaliland...
Then Gabes, Tunisia, Constantine, Algier, Tiencen, Morocco, Casablanca.
To East....Sidi el Barrani, Alexandria...and all middle east.
Gone down through Sudan to reach East African troops.
I annexed Jugoslavia, then justified to Bulgaria....and annexed them.
I was about to begin the "War to Greece" focus but.....
...I decide to move my Balkans mobile and mountaineer army to the west alpine french border.
I brake the french lines in Nice (the coastal city) and move deep my mobile troops towards the big Rodan River.
So I go to north...following to Rodan...took Grenoble, Vichy, Orleans...nearly encirling something like 15 french divisions.
My three light tank divisions, followed by a bunch of motorized ones....finally reach Paris.
I also was able to rapidly take Belgium....because their troops were all on the german border.
I also took Luxemburg...I don't know how.
Suddenly...
VICHY FRANCE APPEARS AS GUARANTEED BY GERMAN REICH.
How this could happen?
Germans have not been able to conquer a single piece of french territory, they were busy on the Weserubung operation.
My troops were cut off my from core regions so I was forced to justify versus Switzerland to recover them by land (and not by the dangerous sea).
Can anyone explain that?
Here two screenshots.
