Is there one way it's going to be done? As far as I know the discussion was still going, altoug it's a bit sleepy right know.

Some tweaking is definately in order... Some countries have so little IC they can't support their existing units, let alone build anything else. Italy is somewhat overpowered ATM compared to others in 0.11 anyway. IIRC MateDow has listed possible GDP values, which would be useful as a guideline for tweaking. The discussion was still raging whether GDP was the proper value to use to present IC, though the general consensus seems to be that it's the closest to the truth.

I definitively agree with FilTur:

The Duce was a terrible ignorant of economics, and the worse thing is, he sometimes imposed his wiew against that of his ministers, for example by revaluating the Lira, making Italian export almost completely die.

I think there should be a little more space for changing historical strategies: a player has not to be forced to do the same shit Mussolini made by managing the economy of Italy... no?

At the same time the player is playing as Mussolini... why shouldn't the player thus be limited in the same way? Offering a player a better shot at economics (through the limited, easy-to-spot-the-end game-system) thanks to hindsight is just a gamey way of improving Italy. I must say that many of the suggestions here regarding Italy centers on making them better, rather than just more believably diverse and that's just not going to happen. They were in a pretty crappy place historically and shall remain so in the game - it will be difficult to play as Italy, simple as that. Face up to the challenge instead, if you want to play Italy.

Options, on the other hand, is another thing completely and if we can come up with reasonable alternatives (all relatively bad, but in different ways) then I'm all ears. But they have to be believable and balanced to Italy's actual situation.
