Italian language for Stellaris

I don' t buy this game .The first was also shown the Italian language and now after weeks it is no longer indicated . it's incorrect. I was waiting for this game for four months. I buy the game on the day that will be added to the Italian language. I am definitely not the only one.

That's your choice. Localisation (especially for a game as text heavy as PDS' Grand Strategies) is expensive so you might be in a for a bit of a wait, but soon enough an Italian fan will make a mod to add in an Italian localisation, I believe this happened fairly quickly for some languages in EU4.

I bought EU1 in german and translated most of it with a dictionary. (it was released a few weeks earlier in Germany iirc and I wanted it really bad, with an awful translation which made my translation hilariously bad. Still, played the hell out of it )

The game is supposed to be played by people who would enjoy the game. If Paradox thinks that it's not worth localizing the game in the Italian language then that's their choice, but a game is a game regardless of the language it is developed in.

Lithuanian population = 2.96 mil - Lithuanian GDP rank = 84th (nominal 2014)
Italian population = 59.83 mil - Italian GDP rank = 8th (nominal) / 12th (PPP)

I am sorry but maybe having the game in Italian could be more profitable than having it in Lithuanian.

But you are right: translating the game for ALL the languages on earth is just a waste of money for Paradox.
And i also think like you, that this game (and all games developed in english) are much better played with their native (english) language.

But all evidence points to the fact that they planned an Italian translation. I strongly suspect they judged the translation to be of low quality and had no time to replace it.

Iirc, from an answer on Steam forum, the italian translation was added by mistake and never really planned. Fine to me, usually english is better anyway and with a dictionary at hand it's no big deal to understand enough to be able to play.

Ah, I was wrong then.

Part of the problem (well, not really a problem as I see it) is that these types of games tend to attract types who can speak, or at the very least understand, English to begin with.

It must be disappointing to see the localization for your language removed, especially if you planned to play in this language. And it's indeed a bit incorrect to just remove it without saying more officially that it was a mistake.

Also, no need to be lesson-givers. Translated games (or books, movies...) obviously have a wider audience than non-translated ones.
Let's just hope that it's not too much work to translate Stellaris in other languages.

Am I the only one who HATES playing computer games in my native language? It just feels so.... false.

Even if it has the option for danish, I still pick english.

I'm italian but I NEVER played a game in italian language, it happens all too often that the resulting translation is sub-par.

That said I understand Gaslinger's disappointment, not everyone wants to learn a foreign language only for playing a game...hopefully the modding community will provide a translation in time.

Eh, italian here too. I've got to the point where I hardly read books or watch movies translated from English anymore, let alone play games. It just feels too weird to not experience them in the original language, when I know I can. Plus dubbings that use the same voice actors for different actors...ugh.

It does make discussing media with friends who don't share this outlook a little awkward at times though, especially given the horrible habit translators have of outright changing proper names.

Still worth it to avoid the silliness of translation.

There never was any italian localisation planned.

As much as I understand you (Italian) guys are keen to play or read or watch your media in English, you have to accept (if you like it or not) that there are many people who are willing to pay money for a product in their language, regardless of their individual skills in English. So please don't be so dismissal about those, that only sounds arrogant and sometimes braggy.

By now remained a minority of italians who pretend the translation of games in our mother language, and unfortunately many of them appear unnecessarily arrogant...
We're not all like that, many of us have made English the preferred language for video games, movies and TV series...

Btw, on steam, italian language still remain until the first day of preorder (only for knowledge)...
