I love Holy Fury and enjoy the new bloodline mechanic. I think it would be nice to have an option to keep creating bloodlines with sizable cost each time. Right now it is 5000/2500 for the first one and 20K for the next in the dynasty for a character that doesn't have the already created bloodline. I know there are ways to game around it, but as an example I having an incredible game with an character that should have died in infancy or been overthrown when he came in power. Even after 50 he has over 200 personal combat skill. He would meet the 20K requirement but he already has an created bloodline. Since we already have options for game rules it would be nice to see bloodline game play added.

I don't know, there is also historical bloodlines you can marry into, saints/venerated ancestor bloodlines, pagan lodge bloodlines, the Alexander bloodline and so on... we gotta watch the powercreep too, it's getting as bad as artifacts. But as a game rule I guess it can't hurt anyone...

If you're not worried about achievements there's a mod that's supposed to allow for more bloodlines. I don't use it myself so I don't know how well it works.

I agree. I started working on a personal mod to do exactly this - you would be allowed to forge a new bloodline as long as you weren't already the founder of a bloodline. However, I gave up in disgust when I realised that I would need to modify every single "forge bloodline" event. (All of these events have a (frankly unnecessary) condition in their "trigger" block that means that they won't show up if you already have a created_bloodline.)

I thought saint bloodlines didn't count as forged bloodlines?

You're correct. Saint bloodlines shouldn't lock you out of forging bloodlines. However, I haven't tested it myself, so it's possible that there's something that I (and the wiki) have missed.

I sometimes see people say that historical bloodlines lock you out of forging a bloodline as well, though I've never noticed this. Maybe it only applies if you start as a historical bloodline holder or founder.

I've not noticed any restrictions on creating a bloodline after getting a saintly one. Additionally, creating a crusader bloodline does not invalidate being able to create a forged one, at least from what I've seen (one ancestor of mine forged the crusader line and was declared a saint, though they died so the line died out, while I was later able to forge my own as a different dynastic branch).

Perhaps one approach could be to implement the scaling costs, but also a renouncement mechanic? So say you forge a bloodline, turns out you don't like it or have some other, better character, you can renounce it as some other character and forge another one for the base cost of 5K prestige.

I've noticed that Humble and Content traits prevent one from taking the forge bloodline ambition; I suspect this might've been the reason in some reported cases...

I think there should be bloodlines for things that are susceptible to happen only a very few times per game. I think it's a shame to have bloodlines that reward easily repetable actions when exceptional things don't get rewarded.

Examples:
- New Empire creator. There could be one bloodline for each de jure empire, plus one generic bloodline for the creation of a custom empire (and not just slavic union, roman empire, israel or indian empire)
- Satan Spawn. I don't see it happening very often in my games, so it would be nice if the descendants of the Satan Spawn could have some kind of tainted bloodline.
- Religion reformer. It usually doesn't happen more than once or twice in every game, and it feels like a great achievement. Even just a symbolic bloodline with an opinion boost would be nice.
- Immortals - I don't know if there's one already, but if not, it should.

I think we are fine with the current forgeable bloodlines we have. For your character with the incredible score of 200 personal combat, I think it's better to be rewarded by being an incredible duelist (like a bloodline you get by beating lots of people, or by being an incredible duelist but not killing anyone and avoiding combat - that would be a neat chivalrous bloodline) than by forging another bloodline.

more endings allways better :p
but yea what I want to have is having access to more end date bloodlines
as example: if turkish ruler holding kingdom of anatolia he should create bloodline of osman(with his name ofcourse) and change dynasty name to "(dynasty founder name)oglu"(this part is optional :p)

I’d love for more bloodline creation options.

I feel like nerfing them ever so slightly will enable that. They give pretty powerful bonuses. Stacking can lead to an OP kingdom really quickly.

Maybe only being able to have a few active ones would do the trick. Like, you only get bonuses from 3, but you can carry and pass on way more.

Something like that.

I’m mostly fond of the bloodlines to remember my favorite characters and to see what legends my current character is descended from. I guess I mostly use it for ancestry purposes, which seems to be uncommon here.

I guess I sit on the opposite side of many here, but I reckon bloodlines are far too easy to get. They are pretty powerful when stacked with treasury items (which Catholic characters now have an entire warehouse of due tongue new crusade mechanics).

The first forged bloodline at 5000 prestige (and then a pretty much guaranteed event chain) is too simple. It gives a powerful bloodline to every dynasty basically as soon as you get your first character who lived into their 50s. For these, the second bloodline requirements (15000 prestige and it's a lot more random or tied to gameplay) seem better. If you compare the historical bloodlines (legendary figures in most cases) that seems a fairer comparison. This might need to be tweaked for tribals and nomads who spend prestige but when Catholic dukes can get 2-3k prestige from a crusade what don't even lead it's a very low threshold...

The Saintly bloodlines are ridiculous. I'd say probably 50% of my characters get them just from passively racking up piety as kings who have a stash of holy foreskins.

Alexander is the worst. It's massively OP and should therefore be an extreme outlier like the child of Destiny - a fun gimmick that totally changes the game, not something that you can add to basically any dynasty.

I'd also like to see some restrictions am which bloodlines apply rather than just stacking but don't really see how you do this...

Basically, I love the idea of bloodlines as a rare reward that flips the game around and changes how your dynasty functions. Not as just another pseudo treasury to stack things in. Give me more cool stuff in then (mercenary traditions, bard events in battle, wandering philosophers) but make them harder to get...

yea I think "forge bloodline" should require you to have 8500 prestige or difficult requirements to fulfill(especially bloodlines you get by waiting should become much more difficult)

AFAIK humble doesn't block it, it does however block the ambitions for getting a lot of prestige and piety, exalted among men and paragon of virtue or whatever they are called - are you sure you are not mixing that up with the forging bloodline thing?

AFAIK humble doesn't block it, it does however block the ambitions for getting a lot of prestige and piety, exalted among men and paragon of virtue or whatever they are called - are you sure you are not mixing that up with the forging bloodline thing?
I definitely had an impression Humble was blocking it... but I may have been wrong.
Wiki does not support me in any case. Maybe loss of it coincided with my character filling the Prestige quota and I made a wrong conclusion...? Needs playtesting then.
At least I'm sure saintly bloodline does NOT block forging one.

If you play as Basil Makedon you cannot get any of the bloodlines from forming the Roman Empire or bringing back the Hellenic faith, which is pretty depressing.
