von Mauser: Don't worry about the mix-up, I still get very confused with CA, CV, CVL, CL, etc. Like my old report cards: too many Cs! Himmler has the potential to cause all sorts of trouble. He's got his own private army and considerable insider access. He's up to no good!
Congratulations on Lieutenant-Commander rank!
Stuyvesant: With my luck the
Scharnhorst bunker would be the first target for the A-Bomb.

Doenitz isn't a politician at all, which is ironic since that seems to be his destiny, both historically and in this AAR.
Thanks for the Light Carrier information. I probably won't use too many, if any, since I'm behind in the technology. They would make nice additions to a Battleship/Battle Cruiser group, that's for sure!
dublish: Ugh, that beta patch sounds like trouble. Why mess with perfection.
Enewald: Ditch that patch and you're in the clear.
PhilleP: Good eye, that's the
Bismarck. I liked the sea plane in it, too. Losses are to be expected in the U-Boat war, but better technology is on the way!
Lord Strange: I got a little over-zealous trying to send U-Boats to the American coast and I've been playing catch-up since. The new technology, combined with Doenitz becoming the leader of the Kriegsmarine should help tip the balance in my favor. I've got some more IC to play with now, too, which allows for aggressive building.
MidEvil: I think there was maybe one Dutch ship present, but it was in charge, apparently.
Dead William: I've heard their value falls off, but with my doctrines and leadership it makes sense to stay with them to the bitter end. U-Boats are fire and forget it. Lose ten, build a dozen. I'm going to make a bid for U-Boat control of the seas in concert with the surface operations.
Bitter peace hit as I was carving up the Industrial provinces beyond the Urals. I have no idea what the specific conditions were, but I didn't argue!
Ugh, Cruiser and destroyer fleets. Do not want.
No world conquest: I'm aiming for victory in the war and then decide what might reasonably unfold next. I think once the main war is over the game will probably wrap-up shortly after.
It's too bad about Battle Cruisers because in real life they are an interesting mix of abilities (and
Scharnhorst is my favorite ship!). I'm still determined to get some use out of them, even if it means building
Scharnhorst VII at some point.
Unfortunately the Marines aren't around to be Doenitz's private guard, but it's a thought I'll tuck away for future use.

He actually had several historical encounters not unlike what I depicted. He joked in his memoirs about having his sheep dog for back-up in a meeting with Himmler.
son of liberty: Or just remove that beta and go back to the old ways!
coz1: Something not unlike what you describe is in the works, once Commander Schultz gets to use his new toy in actual war! "Das Boot" is a great movie, if I could be 10% as entertaining I'll take it!
Doenitz (and us!) still has no idea what is actually going on, but it certainly isn't something years of submarine school prepare you for! Could he ally himself with some other high-ranking individual? If he does, I don't think Georing with be a good choice with his history of hostility toward the Kriegsmarine, but on the other hand desperate times...
I'll keep doing it.
Myth: It truly is a "gangster empire." The Kriegsmarine exists outside the sphere of influence of the party for the most part, which has both advantages and disadvantages. We just want to sink ships!
volksmarschall: It's probably a combination of Britain's might drying up and not enough U-Boat deployment after some heavy losses. I'm not about to give up though and the new advances should help. Next stop: London and New York!
Ai Shizuka: There's troublemakers everywhere, it seems! U-Boats are very cost effective, even though you will take heavy losses. The total enemy shipping sunk by our U-Boats is probably close to that sunk by our surface fleets and that doesn't even factor in convoy sinking. I say try 'em, you might like 'em.
All: Congratulations to new Lieutenant-Commander
von Mauser!
The Soviets have been defeated! Now it's time to settle the North Africa issue and prepare for a critical amphibious operation in the spring!
