So my first and only wish is that random events, such as world invasions and random buffs & debuffs, like in AOW3 get included, and i hope that happens in the DLC. Remember AOW3 where you had in the upper left corner random events like a dwarf comet or the invasion of a mighty necromancer, or a troll invasion? Stuff like that is a must have and it would fit perfectly into the Planetfall world, like a sleeping nuke that suddenly reawakens and detonates, an invasion of experimental bioorganic weapons that've been locked away in some biolab,
or space pirates, coming in, carrying unique weapons lead by a max level hero, which you might mind control like in AOW3. Stuff like that.

With that being said, now to the issues. Where I think the new patch made things worse, is with the economy. I can go way to fast through all the technologies, and sectors get to max level far to quickly.
One of the key elements of 4x games and especially AOW, is the king of the hill principle. You need to get golden landmarks fast, to steamroll the competition. It's all about getting the stuff that puts you ahead, but golden landmarks aren't so special anymore, now that nearly everything gets to tier 5 fast, also the AI seems to ignore them constantly. Where the AOW3 AI would mercilessly beat my behind, the extreme AOW: planetfall AI usually only kills me when 2 or three attack me at the same time.
I somehow think the expand and exploration part of the game has suffered with the last patch and I think the ecconomy research should take longer to complete, maybe with some more elements and it shouldn't be that simple to get level 5 sectors, actually level 5 sectors should only be available for areas with a landmark on them. Most of the times a silver landmark is already level 5 and sometimes even a bronze.

Those were my main talking points, except for one. Since amazon women are so strong, when it comes to reproduction, don't they need more than one man? because I can't imagine one man alone can handle that much girlpower :p :D hahaha.
But what about the king of the hill principle, do you guys feel the same?

I don't know if you read the official site, but the "World events" system is just the thing you described: earthquakes, acid rain, dust storm or even space pirate invasions (Therians?) are some of the ones mentioned. The effects last for 5 turns (or at least some of them) and can be something from terraforming the land to in-battle debuffs.

When it comes to economy changes the idea was about streamlining it. They were based on player feedback and were generally well recieved. Imo those were good changes, but as with everything some people might dislike them.

Finally the AI is a topic that is regulary raised by the community, and Triumph guys are very well aware of it and working on it. If I remember correctly a bigger AI overhaul was supposed to be a part of the Tyrranosaurus update, but they didn't finish it in time so it's planned as part of further additions. I don't know if it will quench the communities thirst for "worthy" AI opponents but at least Triumph is trying.

When it comes to Amazons, the things is a target of either jokes or serious lore discussions. I can't remember what was the consensus, but I believe with such DNA manipulating capabilities they can very well "reproduce" in lab conditions.

I don't know what AI you guys are talking about

Strategic - yes, needs work, but mostly because it's not very economy-savvy. E.g. I spam colonizers like no tomorrow, central biofarms everywhere, and in 20 turns I have twice as much colonies as AI with twice as much pops. Most likely the Triumph guys who coded the AI don't really know how to optimize AI for brutal expansion like the player can do, they just need to play their own game a bit more :)

Tactical AI I am more than happy with, it is brutal (at least on Hard/Extreme), you make one misstep you lose a unit, also focusing down your high-threat units in no time, sometimes I lose a full HP ranged commander *in cover* from max range in 1 round due to ridiculous focus firing by AI.

Seems the main issues people have is with the strategic AI. Idle stacks or economic lagging behind are the main concerns. I personally am not a demanding player, most of the time I enjoy a slower pace of playing the game. I do remember some stupid AI behaviour when as my allies they moved their whole army away from capital and were easily conquered by opponents, or armies that simply "stayed" in place. But this was back when I played the campaign and there were some improvements already. Also there is still that thing about Triumph guys not making in time with all their AI changes for T-rex patch, so maybe we are still to see some big improvements...
