Hello there! I really like what you did with the Carpathian Basin's map overall in CK3, I absolutely love the amount and accuracy of counties and de jure duchies. However, I have some suggestions on things that you might've missed, or made typos at. I believe that since the game is still in development, there is no problem with fixing these, mostly localisation-based issues.
First of all, I found the names of some counties on the map weird. I dare to suggest fixing some typos, and suggesting culturally changing naming for some:
Along with these minor fixes, I suggest the use of the -i locative suffix for randomly generated Hungarian house names. This works in Hungarian just like the "of ", "de " or "von " prepositions work in western languages, for example a bastard in Bamberg might be called "von Bamberg", like Heinrich von Bamberg. Now for Hungarian, an -i suffix would work just like that, but instead of a prefix as a suffix: a bastard born in Somogy might be called "Somogyi", like Tamás Somogyi. In CKII, that was easy to recreate for modders by changing
to
, and it worked totally fine (!). I'm not sure about the coding mechanics CKIII, but I have a feeling that you guys made it so that this is just as possible!
So if a developer sees this, thousands of Hungarian fans (and probably of other nationalities too) would be so glad if these were implemented
First of all, I found the names of some counties on the map weird. I dare to suggest fixing some typos, and suggesting culturally changing naming for some:
- Pozsony: it's on the map as "Poszony", which is a really weird typo, as "sz" is pronounced completely differently in Hungarian. I also suggest using Prešporok as a Slovien name for it as well as Pressburg for German cultures
- Trencsén: should be "Trencsén" in Hungarian and "Trenčín" in Slovien and Czech instead of "Trenscen", which is also a serious typo
- Heves: it's currently called "Hewes"
- Sáros/Šariš: not sure about this one, but should be called just like that in Slovien and as "Sáros" in Hungarian
- Szepes/Spiš: Szepes in Hungarian, Spiš in Slovien
- Árva/Orava: Árva in Hu, Orava in Sl
- Gömör/Gemer: same, in order
- Nyitra/Nitra: also the same in respective order
- Somogy: the same in Hungarian, however would be neat if it the Slavic name for it would be "Blatno", like in CK2, for both the county and the duchy
- there are also missing diacritic marks for these county and duchy names:
- Győr
- Zaránd
- Fehér
- Székelyföld
- Liptó
- Abaúj
- Bács
- Csanád
And to add the diacritcs for the Hungarian county names for:
- Fogaras > Fogarasföld - The old name for this county. Dropping the -föld only happened in the late 19th century restructuring of the counties.
- Torda > Kolozs - While Torda is fine for this one, Kolozs (the northern half of this county) was more important and would make more sense as its namesake.
- Zagorje > Križevci (Kőrös in Hungarian). The Zagorje region only marks the very western corner of this county. Most of this consists of the county of Križevci/Kőrös.
- Máramaros (Marmaros)
- Békés
- Veszprém
- Abaúj (Abov)
- Szatmár
- Valkó (Vukovar)
Along with these minor fixes, I suggest the use of the -i locative suffix for randomly generated Hungarian house names. This works in Hungarian just like the "of ", "de " or "von " prepositions work in western languages, for example a bastard in Bamberg might be called "von Bamberg", like Heinrich von Bamberg. Now for Hungarian, an -i suffix would work just like that, but instead of a prefix as a suffix: a bastard born in Somogy might be called "Somogyi", like Tamás Somogyi. In CKII, that was easy to recreate for modders by changing
Code:
from_dynasty_prefix = "a "
Code:
from_dynasty_suffix = "i"
So if a developer sees this, thousands of Hungarian fans (and probably of other nationalities too) would be so glad if these were implemented
