Its been almost half of a year since this game was released and it is still far from being finished. Iam not talking even about streamlining and fine tuning things. Most game titles need at least 6 months to be patched properly so all the minor errors and ballance issues are taken care of. But SotS 2 is not even complete. I dont understand the working schedule of professional game making but i do understand how to adress customers needs as it is part of my job. I do as well understand why the game was released early allthough if it would have been my decision i would have not done it like that. But that has been adressed already before. I want to express how disappointed iam with the actual state of the game and the developement of the patches. First of all it seems to me that those patches are meant to satisfy those people who are playign the game already and do not care about diplomacy system, government or AI not being present so far.

Just have a look at the latest patch log. Iam sorry, maybe iam the only one but i do not care really by now if turrets are invisible in the tactical fleet setup. I dont care so much if there are minor targeting issues for missiles or anything. Those are things that have to be taken care of later after the most important parts of the game are up and running. Put the diplomacy into it, make the government system working, make some decent scenarios, finish the freakin tech tree and make the techs work! Stop adjusting screws..as long as the chassis is missing.

Errr, government system is in and so is diplomacy (seriously, I got a multi player game with my brother and an AI and currently I'm ten turns into cease fire with the Zuul AI) there are a few techs that don't work properly but afaik the entire tech tree is in. Only thing missing from your list are scenarios.

Government? It did change from a "Non-Government" to centralism only. It has no impact at all on whats happening. As well as it is impossible to change the government through policies. It stays Centralism. There is as well no feedback at all. Diplomacy? The current state is that you can propose "things" to other races who you accidently learn about. No "Cease fire" appeal...no contact message even..its just that they are around somehow too. If there is really a load of scripts running in the background to emulate other Intelligent Races....they darm well hidden. So well that you would even notice them without some different colored fleet icons appearing on the map.

New patch today; it's good to see the game is coming along. Unfortunately, I'm totally fixated on the UI issues and I find some of its design approaches hostile to my mental process, so I still tend to give up after an hour. I'm looking forware to the UI eventually becoming the focus of the updates, and I'm curious to see how Kerberos is going to improve it.

I only bought the game a couple of days ago on special because i am willing to risk a small sum of money on an unfinished game.

I would have to say my main gripe with this game is the interface. The interface is confusing and just plain hard to use. Lack of explanations on why you can't do something is my main issue.

It's taken me a couple of hours to work out most of the basics when really it shouldn't. Even Hoi3 was easier to use then this.

UI was slated as the last thing to work on, and now that they are starting the polish phase we should be seeing UI improvements, about a third of the current screen are confirmed placeholders with replacements slated to go in. Tool tips are a big part of that too.

Yeah, well that's good to know I guess. I could not find any clear statement from Kerberos about what remains to be done UI-wise. I find a bit strange the way they handled the "restoration" of the game, but since it's finally coming together, this whole mess will soon seem like a bad dream.

With ui changes this game would have the potential to be awesome, so i really hope you are right.

** PLEASE leave the complaints META-THREAD for complaints ONLY. Debates about posts there should be made in a separate thread, with a link to the specific post in mind.

You can do this by clicking on the number (link) of the post to get the URL reqd. Add that link to your post in the general SotS2 forum, so people can see what you are referring to. (i.e. the number of this post is #10)

See the first post of the META-THREAD here:

To reduce the amount of arguments and general nastiness toward each other I have decided that this is now the only thread that complaints about the game in general will be allowed.
Specific issues can be discussed in threads related to that game play issue, but general complaints about the state of release, or management issues or anything like that needs to be posted only in this thread.

Thank You.

After the last two patches i actually got a change in Government to the extreme lower right corner. Liberationism. But there is somethign that makes me personally unahppy with that as the way of feedback the game gives to you. It is surelly interesting what exactly caused the change of government but there is, if i didnt miss it, no feedback ingame about what the government you got ...does any good or bad to you. I know there is a wikia but please. What i found out is that the movement was caused by expanding with colonies and adding modules to trade stations. I have to say i love how everythign you do influences the way your society changes. But on the other hand it would be great to have actually a bit more direct control.
