Issue with resolution on Macbook Pro (Retina display)

Hi,
I am playing this game on my macbook pro 2015 (15'', retina display) but I can't find a way to play it on higher resolution. If in fullscreen I choose anything above 1400x900 (although my display has a resolution up to 2880x1800), the game is not displayed properly - just the portion of the game's screen is shown then, sometimes even buttons don't work anymore.
I tried the text file workaround, but if the settings are on borderless, even if I manually change the x and y, then I can't even change display in game anymore (it's set to default 1400x900). Any ideas?

I expect you'll be on MacOS Catalina. If so there really isn't much you can do except to juggle resolutions and display modes until it works acceptably on your hardware.
